Basically, it's proof that during those festivites I got myself a silly hobby... manking figurines with the infamous pyssla beads!

I'm not very good with these, so all I did was do the classic Super Mario sprites like 1UP and Power Up Mushrooms, Starman and Fire Fower from SMW and SMB3. Very common stuff that probably isn't worth to post here since I'm not the first one to make them. But I found out nobody ever tried to do this little guy, so I gave myself a try, and what a hell of a try it was! I basically had to work on a black and white sprite from the Super Mario Land and use the comic as a reference for the colors. Yes, I did a custom Pionpi sprite.

For those who don't know. Pionpi was an enemy from Super Mario Land, probably replacing the Dry Bones of the Musrhoom Kingdom, when I was little I believed he was a ninja, when in fact, he's a freaking zombie! A Jiang Shi to be precise.

Ok, more than a classic zombie he's some kind of mix of zombie and vampire, no wonders the only way to kill him was to hit him with fireballs! He hops around because of rigor mortis and seems to feed both on blood and life force. Technically is a zombie but he's aware of himself like a vampire... damn, there's a lot to write about those freaking monsters. I'm both interested and freaked out by them, as someone who's fascinated by horror stuff I can't help it

Only of a thing I can be sure. I'm glad Super Mario always got colorful and kiddy artworks even of the scariest monsters of it's bestiary (I'm looking at you, Phanto!) but if they used realism, probably in the manual and in the comic Pionpi would have looked like this: static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub… Good luck having this guy as your advisor, Daisy!

Okay... on the techincal stuff, I remade the sprite using the comic book's colors, it wasn't easy due of the sprite's semplicity, but it was a nice challenge. I also modified the braid so it was thicker and easier to fuse. I need a bigger variety of colors for the beads...
