Description Gender Swapped World - Part 2

Samuel staggered towards the street. He leaned against the wall for support, blood dripping from his sweatshirt onto the ground. He did have a knife wound, but it was in a different spot than before; after having his trachea slit only moments ago, he figured the stinging pain was a better trade.

A very tall man looked down the alley, his brown eyes wide as he saw Samuel. Samuel continued pushing forward, slowing down slightly and beginning to feel lightheaded. The man rushed over and caught Samuel as he started to fall to the ground.

“Are you alright?” the man asked, helping Samuel to his feet and staring at the blood dripping from his shirt. “Oh, shit! Okay, hold on, I’ll call an ambulance and see if I can help stop the bleeding.”

“Thanks,” Samuel said weakly. Samuel felt himself beginning to pass out, and the man had seemed to notice. He scooped Samuel up in his arms and hurried out of the alley towards a nearby apartment building. Samuel realized that the man was in fact not that tall; he was average for a man’s height. It was Samuel who was shorter and apparently lighter; a man as thin and lean as the one carrying him could not have picked up Samuel in his former body.

“It’ll be alright,” the man said worryingly. “What’s your name? I’m Ted.”

“Sam-” Samuel uttered before his vision went blurry, then black a second later.

“Jenna?” Ruby called out. She’d gotten the panicked call from her sister and was worried, so she decided to drop by to make sure everything was safe. “Jenna, you alright?”

Ruby broke into a sprint as she heard vomiting coming from the bathroom.

“Oh, what’s wrong?” she asked. Jenna flushed the toilet and turned around, her face extremely pale.

“This,” she said, waving her hand in a circle across her face. “All of this!”

“Head problems?” Ruby asked, confused. Besides looking a bit pale, Jenna was perfectly normal.

“Facial hair problems. Can’t you see it?”

“I don’t know, it looks fine to me,” Ruby told her. “Stylish like always. Certainly nothing to vomit about.”

“And it’s not strange that I have facial hair to you?”

“Of course not,” Ruby answered honestly.

Jenna took a hard look at Ruby, then stood up.

“It’s just the flu, that’s all sis, don’t worry about it,” she weakly smiled. Ruby could tell she was lying. She would always stare down the bottom corner of her eyes when she lied. But, deciding that Jenna was not in the mood to tell the truth, Ruby said farewell and told her to call if she did end up needing her help.

Thank god, she’s gone, Jenna thought. Ruby had honestly thought the facial hair was normal. And normally that’d lead Jenna to believing Ruby was crazy, but having left the bathroom for a minute when she was feeling better, she had noticed in her pictures that she also had the facial hair in them.

Jenna had been convinced it was cancer, even with the photos, until other changes occurred. Her voice was deep, really deep. Too deep. And her breasts were basically gone, just flat chest. It looked exactly like a guy’s chest would be, and it seemed to be becoming more muscular by the hour. Her whole body, in fact, appeared to be developing more muscle.

This had all led Jenna to believe that she had some new, weird, unheard of disease. But what disease could change your old pictures or make your friends believe your changes were normal? Ruby hadn’t even been put off by the new voice. Jenna considered that she could be delusional, but if she was, she had no way to tell. Ruby had seemed to confirm they were indeed in reality and not some play in her mind.

“Oh my God!” Ruby shrieked as she entered the apartment. Ted weakly smiled, exhausted from taking Sam to the hospital. Even though she was small and light, Ted still had struggled to carry her. His muscles were sore, and his body was recovering from the adrenaline surge he had felt at the sight of blood. “What happened? Why is there blood on your shirt? Your fingernails?!”

“Oh, I didn’t wash that off?” Ted answered casually, holding his nails up for inspection. Looking at them, he noticed they did indeed have some blood on them. But something else was wrong. They were longer, shinier. Well polished and manicured.

Ted looked over at Ruby who quickly threw her purse on the ground and rushed to his side.

“Is that your blood?”

“Oh, no, sorry,” he replied, rubbing the back of his head. “It’s a long story. There was this girl in the alley by the bar and she was bleeding. Someone had stabbed her. I had to carry her out of the alley and call an ambulance. Her blood got all over me though.”

Ruby pushed some of Ted’s hair back on his forehead. Her hand flowed gracefully over his cheek, stopping and grabbing hold of his face. Her fingertips were warm, caring. They stared into each others eyes, and for a moment Ted thought this was it - the moment Ruby would realize it was him all along.

“You saved someone’s life,” Ruby whispered. “That’s amazing.”

Ted gulped. They were about to kiss. It was happening. Everything he had dreamed of. A gurgling noise came from his stomach, but he ignored it, ignored the clammy feeling spreading throughout his body. It was all worth it when her lips finally touched his. It was, perhaps, the best moment of Ted’s life so far.

“I’ve loved…” Ruby tried to say. But then her eyes hazed over as the clammy feeling spread through Ted’s body. He grabbed her by the shoulders and shook her, but she was lost in some sort of dream it seemed. Ted stood up and stumbled to his phone, but before he could grab it he fell to the floor, unable to move. The world spun around him and his vision began to haze at the ends, slowly filling inwards with black. Ted felt himself lose consciousness, his last concern being whether Ruby was going to be alright.

Will Samuel survive? What will Jenna do? What has happened to Ruby and Ted? Where are the other promised characters? These answers and more next time!
