Surprisingly enough, this is the first page of this comic where I don't really have a good reason to put a Mature Content label on this. This is also the page where we finally reveal the details on my interpretation of Dorothy's biological father (whom I've made up my mind to make an original character. For a time, I considered making Dorothy's father the ancient Atlantean sorcerer Arion, but that was scrapped because I lacked sufficient knowledge on the character, and the number of DC comics I'm trying to catch up on at the moment is large enough as it is with just focusing on every Legion of Super-Heroes comic I haven't read before, Eric Luke's run on Wonder Woman, The Books of Magic, Swamp Thing, Lucifer and Hellblazer, all of which I'm catching up on for the sake of the following future Jimothy stories: Dorothy Spinner applying for membership in the Legion of Super-Heroes and Jimmy using the circumstances as his opportunity to propose to Dorothy, a requested story of Dorothy Spinner having a bachelorette party thrown for her by the other female members of the Doom Patrol that I've decided will take place on Themyscira and an unofficial sequel to The Children's Crusade that, among other things, will make a better effort of the different characters interacting with each other and will take place after Jimmy and Dorothy have married and while Dorothy is pregnant).
Dorothy Spinner, her boyfriend Jimmy Olsen and Jennie (a minor character from Rachel Pollack's run on Doom Patrol who in my interpretation has been revealed to be Dorothy's younger sister who was raised by different foster parents) are brought to Dorothy's biological mother, who is an interpretation of Slava, Dorothy's biological mother in the live-action Doom Patrol show.
When Dorothy confronts her mother on leaving her under the care of her abusive foster parents Jebediah and Margaret Spinner as well as never visiting Dorothy when she was in a coma for four years, Slava explains that she and her husband Elijah Spinner had to oblige a prophecy that required them to let both of their children be raised by adoptive parents, Mr. and Mrs. Spinner were actually still related to Dorothy due to being her uncle and aunt (specifically, Jebediah Spinner is Elijah's brother and Margaret is his sister-in-law, and he wasn't aware that they'd be so cruel to his daughter while rearing her), Slava never bothered to visit Dorothy while she was comatose because she was convinced Dorothy wouldn't survive and couldn't bear to watch her firstborn child die and that she never came to visit Dorothy when she finally recovered because she was preoccupied with searching for her husband Elijah when he went missing.
Dorothy is fortunately understanding and forgiving, noting that the reason given for why her birth mother gave her and her sister up for adoption is actually mundane compared to the things she had to deal with as a member of the Doom Patrol. Jimmy addresses that they still don't know what's happened to Dorothy's birth father and Dorothy asks how her and Jennie's conception was possible if Slava, being an immortal cavewoman, would've logically reached menopause a long time ago.
Slava replies that Dorothy and Jennie came into being because of magic that enabled Slava to get pregnant and stresses that she and Elijah would not have given up their children for adoption if they had a choice in the matter, also stating that Elijah is being held prisoner by a villain using powerful magic to prevent his rescue, noting that if they are to save Elijah, they'll need very powerful users of magic as their allies.
Dorothy replies that she does know a few mages who can be of significant help, specifying Zatanna, John Constantine, Willoughby Kipling and Timothy Hunter (among the Vertigo titles I feel obligated to catch up on for my sequel to The Children's Crusade, I am presently the closest in finishing The Books of Magic, as I'm presently in the middle of reading Hunter: The Age of Magic, afterwards all I'll have left to catch up on will be The Books of Magick: Life During Wartime and the Books of Magic series that is part of The Sandman Universe, of which I've already read the issues featuring appearances by Edwin Paine and Charles Rowland, the Dead Boy Detectives. I'm still on Jamie Delano's run on Hellblazer, but am getting close to the two issues guest-written by Grant Morrison).
We end this page with Margaret Spinner meeting Beast Boy's abusive legal guardian Nicholas Galtry in a bar, where they hit it off due to both of them being abusive foster parents whose adopted children were rescued from their abuse by becoming affiliated with the Doom Patrol and are conspiring with Vandal Savage, who is the one holding Elijah Spinner prisoner and has promised Margaret Spinner and Nicholas Galtry that they'll have their revenge against Dorothy Spinner and Garfield Logan. Jebediah Spinner isn't around because he was established to have died sometime between the events of Rachel Pollack and John Arcudi's Doom Patrol runs.
To explain why I consider Dorothy Spinner to qualify as an adult, I am aware that Rachel Pollack's run indicated Dorothy was underage (as she was stated to be 14 in the recap page of issue 70, said recap page being omitted in the Omnibus collection of Rachel Pollack's run, though the description on the back of the jacket still acknowledges Dorothy's age), but John Arcudi's run established that four years had passed since the incident that rendered Dorothy comatose, and if you do the math, this means Dorothy was most likely at least 18 when Robotman reluctantly had her life support unplugged in blind compliance with the Doom Patrol's tradition of cleaning house for every new roster of the team.
In regards to the version of Dorothy Spinner that appears in the live-action TV adaptation of the Doom Patrol, that continuity established her to be over 100 years old, and while she was initially stuck being 11 physically, puberty did eventually catch up to her near the end of the second season, and she was clearly shown to be visibly maturing in appearances after that point (plus her actress Abi Monterey happened to be around 19-20 when originally cast).
