After owning the game for almost as long as it’s been out, I finally finished Kirby and the Forgotten Land! (Minus the Forgo Isles since those are a little tricky)

To celebrate finishing it, I wanted to draw Elfilin and my little awoofy OC, Checkpoint (or Check for short)
He is a little awoofy that followed Kirby and Elfilin around during their travels in the forgotten lands. He doesn’t like fighting much, and is pretty shy, but he saw how Kirby was trying to rescue the waddledees and it made him want to help out. Check would usually show up in quiet areas, where Kirby and Elfilin would stop to take a breather as they explored, and even would bring items near the area, pushing them over but never getting to close himself.
He became such a constant in these quiet spots that Kirby got into the habit of calling out “Hey, it’s Checkpoint!” (Or something similar) when he saw the pup.

The teal markings on Check come from being hit by the sparks from one of Elfilis’ energy attacks because he got a bit too close to the fight, wanting to see if Kirby and Elfilin were ok as he had gotten rather attached to them over the adventure (especially since the duo had attempted to talk to him when they saw him and would often leave something for him in the ‘rest spots’, far enough away that he would feel safe grabbing it). The blast actually gifted a small amount of Elfilis’ power to Check, leaving the teal markings, blue eye and giving him the ability to learn to speak their language (which awoofy can’t do in my AU), as well as potentially giving him some other powers, it’s unclear if this is the case however.

At present, Checkpoint is very close to Kirby and Elfilin, feeling most comfortable with Elfilin around, and he has a basic knowledge of the common language they use (when he tries to speak it usually comes out as broken and he has trouble thinking of the word he needs somewhat often). He also has a bit of a bond with Bandana Waddledee (since Bandana was with Kirby as well). While he is still quite shy, he loves being around his new friends.
He stuck with the name ‘Checkpoint/Check’ because it was what Kirby called him and he came to look up to the young star warrior.
