Description London in 1885 was a lively place.  The Mikado was dazzling rapturous audiences at the Savoy Theatre.  But it was the Wigram Bros. Circus of Wonders that amazed Londoners and various visitors from around the Empire.  And the star of it all was Mightora.

Born Kitty Pullham on a farm near Sheffield, she'd shown physical precocity from childhood and by 14 was quite able to knock out the family's bull, an irascible grouch named the Colonel, with a single massive blow.  She'd followed that up with feats ranging from snapping bricks in half to bending iron lampposts.  When circus owner J.S. Wigram saw her in action, he offered her an immediate contract.

Taking the stage name Mightora, she was a darling of the penny press, and the subject of one of the first comic books in the world and once snapped a Martini-Henry rifle in half to the amazement of Queen Victoria herself during a private audience at Osborne House.
