This is what I had in mind for my Witchtober 2023 drawing. Themes, children and uh---kidnapping-yeah! Witches love stealing kids--

Noise could be heard in the distant background as the Ruby Red Witch comforted her new little charge, it was mostly the sounds of angry villagers and the Worthingtons fussing and screaming and making a huge show of themselves as usual. But to be fair The Ruby Red Witch did just steal another one of their children. It seems she's attached herself to that particular family and shows up now and again to swipe a child. Oh, that family hated her. The village was scared of her. She was old. Powerful. And couldn't be stopped even if they tried. They should have counted their blessings that they werent targeted like the Worthingtons.

But the thing is, The Ruby Red Witch was a good person who just happen to have witch's powers. She took children, yes. But these children were abuse or neglected. Thats why she took them. And she never gave them back. The Worthingtons were awful people, but these children didnt deserve to be treated this way. The reason she didnt target the other families in the village was two fold; first, the other families treated their own children well, and second, the Worthingtons had a lot to pay for, but in time, they painted it a different way. They were callous, dishonest, cruel....they deserved far more than what the Ruby Red Witch did to them, and she could do far worse if she had really wanted, but she was actually a better person than that--at least for the time being. If anything, these kidnappings just made them the center of attention for weeks on end, playing up as the victims they truly werent--they didnt care. And they didnt give a damn about this child, this one right here, this poor boy starved for a real mother's love. They were disgusting.

"Auntie Ruby? What about Mama? Wont she be mad?"
Oh she was mad alright, but the Ruby Red Witch had a sweet and gentle way with children.
"Well, now Erik, you see, your mother realized that she is a bad mama. And finally realized that you deserved better and asked me to take you and be a really good mum to you. But she'll always keep you in her heart."
"Oh--okay." The boy smiled, happy to think that his mother actually cared. The Ruby Red Witch knew that in time, he would forget his life there in the village.
"Come on, now; we must hurry home so you can meet your new family."

Now the Ruby Red Witch knew what she was doing was wrong; its kidnapping, of course, it's wrong! But she also knew she was doing it for the right reasons. Little Erik wasnt the first. And he would be far from the last.
