( A lot of people get piss at him for giving Gulliver excellent furniture, and they get a waffle in the end )
But, I like to think that Gulliver bakes them himself. Learn how to cook from his mother. Something to reminder when he's away.
In New Leaf, he can talk about how nice his mother is and how she deserves respect. ( My Heart )
I mean, freshly baked goods is always a good reward in my book. ^^''

Head cannon out of the way, Gulliver and Orville would hang out, and Gulliver would bring a different cake every time, and they would talk.
I think Orville would enjoy hearing what stories Gulliver has.
Plus, Gulliver was an astronaut in Wild World. So, they would both be happy to talk about that.
