Description

A little sketch/placeholder for ruins of Atlantis. Doesn't necessarily correspond with the look I'm envisioning in the game (Anki), but it's a good enough example of the scale of the ruins.

Atlantis existed on a large island (1/6 the size of the britain) 200 miles off the shores of the Gibraltar Strait, described to be a lush tropical haven, full of hundreds of species in fauna and flora, with many exotic ecosystems. The island had extensive beaches, tropical rainforests, springs and swamps.

The Atlanteans were the chosen people of Ptah-Khnemu, a godlike but eerily human consciousness born in the big bang, and thus he gave them the Crystalline spheres - ten in number, hundred-ton spheres made of an impossible material, capable of generating infinite energy (normal physical expressions of it and abnormal, unexplainable ones). Along with those, Ptah-Khnemu gave them the Laws of Technology - invaluable knowledge to the Atlanteans. They then proceeded to build the most elaborate metropolitan area ever known, in under 1000 years.

The Crystalline Sphere is infused with a soul - it mostly acts as an energy source, and as a supercomputer (the crystal is an incredibly complex latice, almost like a fractal circuit), which can be programmed in various ways. The Sphere also contains an infinity of pocket dimensions, which replicate the biome and general area it is placed in.

The number of the dimensions that can be accessed by an entity is proportional to their mental and physical capacities (humans can access around 5-10, deities can access endless worlds). Pocket Dimension #9999 is like a "control room" or BIOS of the Sphere, and can only be accessed by deities.

Atlantis is first "modernized" and hyper-urbanized in around 10000-9000 BC, rapidly evolving from a hunter-gatherer settlement to going past our modern technology in 2020s. The city extends over the waters ("floating" sectors) and is filled to the brim with skyscrapers, monuments, institutions, power lines, sewage, all constructed out of highly durable ocean stones.

The Atlanteans basically built their mega-metropolis AROUND all the wildlife and resorts, to preserve nature.

In the destruction of Atlantis, the Crystalline Spheres are shattered into thousands of smaller pieces, which, after thousands of years, end up washing up on shores around the world. The currents mostly carry them somewhere else, though... The shores of the Persian Gulf.
