Description
The entire title is:"You Can't Spell Monkey without M,O,N,E,Y"
My friend L. Crowsky, has noted several trends concerning the buying and selling of art in the LA "underground" art scene while currating his show, the Cannibal Flower. One of these observations is that paintings of girls, skulls, and monkeys almost always sell. This painting is inspired by that trend.
Using the japanese money cat, "Maneki Neko", as the foundation, I switched the species and replaced his gold tablet with a brush and palette. As a finishing touch, I added the same little red dots used to indicate that a piece of art has sold for its pupils.

It's the eyes that got me. I know it might sound odd, but the fact that you used red dots for the eyes the way you did, and for the reasons you did, shows more thought to me than any other symbolism in the piece. It's a personal kind of touch.
You amaze me with every piece you do.

I love monkeys and the color red so you scored twice on this one! If monkey pictures really do sell then maybe I should try selling mine. It's not a painting though; I just used a marker. Check it out and tell me what you think!

I love this one.
I must admit, I do have a weakness for monkeys.
The odder the better forsure...this one is kind of scary, like it might kill at any moment...reminds me of "Monkey Shine" by Stephen King.
