Description
A sort of follow-up pic to my previous piece of The X-Files: The Game fanart: [link] I figured I should keep the same style as I had it 7 years ago.The old PC X-Files game is one of my favorites, though its replay value is crap, so I only dig it out once every 3 years or so. When I do, though, I always enjoy it.
Okay, inspiration for this pic: As Agent Willmore, you go through a heck of a lot of crap that can get you killed throughout the game, especially at the end. At this point, depending on how well you treated your detective partner, Mary Astadourian, you either get romantic interest out of her or outright disinterest. Your case leads you out of the Seattle area, and she shows concern for you before you leave. Then you take off to Alaska and can get killed at least 10 different ways, and it's darn easy to die, too. One of the death segments involves them digging up your bones and confirming they're yours, her face showing a cool but heartbroken reaction.
So, yeah, when you beat the game and come home alive, they end with the note that you did a good job, she insists on meeting you at your apartment to deliver some case files, and in the pouring rain, you get told you're not out of the woods yet. Roll credits.
Dammit, where's my meet-up scene? Why, in my head, of course! She'd be damn happy he's alive. Case files, my butt. Things go wrong and you die from getting shot, from getting chased and THEN getting shot, getting shot some more, getting shot even more, getting killed by an infected Mulder, getting killed by an infected Scully, getting shot by a disloyal partner, Cook, getting irradiated by Cook, helping an infected Mulder and getting irradiated, getting shot yet again by Cook, and that's not to mention all the ways you can lose without dying.
I tried to mimic Willmore's apartment as best I could, but for a game made in 1998, the resolution was kinda low, so I sorta improvised on a lot of things, including the book titles, hehe. Some are just generic titles, some make cracks at the gameplay. For instance, the teal one is titled "Why Handcuffs Are Useless." You get a lot of items in the game, but as far as I know, you never actually use those.
I spent twice as much time on the background in this pic as on the characters. It was good practice. Some imperfections, but it happens.
Willmore and Astadourian are Β©Chris Carter, or something. Yoshi is Nintendo's. I really wouldn't have made them yoshies this time around, but I thought continuity would be a good idea.

JUST FINISHED THE GAME MYSELF RIGHT NOW! Was looking for any video of an alternate ending with Astodouris and found this. The next best thing, especially with such a hefty book tittled "why Handcuffs Are Useless" (Perfect)
PS: Had the game since 99 but as always stuck in the Alaska Base.

I love you.
Seriously, so many years and I have had NO ONE that would ever understand my permanant FRUSTRATION over the end of that game. I never even got as close as you though, hehe, since I don't ever think she said that to me. I can't tell you how many times I played that over and over, wondering when the hell Astadourian was going to meet up with me later, AS PROMISED in my strategy guide.
Come to think of it though, as a fourth grader, I probably didn't know how to impress her. I always told her I liked her makeup and that she smelled nice, and never let her handle any of the case evidence (pshh, Pendrell was the only one that was going to examine that). And I always tried to kiss her too, which freaked her out each time.
So, other than the fact that the topic of this piece is amazing, it is really well done too. I love the floor, and you did a great job mimicking his apartment
I must go now and try to install The X files game into my laptop

LoL, I think I probably got the same ending on my first playthroughs. But sharing your case with her at first and trusting her to get something checked out usually makes her warm up to you. I didn't get a positive reaction from her when I tried to kiss her until... god, much later. Sixth playthrough or something, lol. She said something about tampering evidence and then smiled, and I was like "WHOA SNAP I HAVEN'T GOTTEN THAT REACTION BEFORE!" LoL.
I'm glad you like it! I love that game so hard, lol, shoot. It's totally worth reinstalling.
