Actually, I think as far as white is concerned... You'll find that alcohol pens (AKA "white" markers) really don't give the effect you're looking for (What they do is they reliquify the pigment, making it easier to mix, and also leaching a little bit out. Sometimes, they melt the paper, too 
I have a tube of cheap Titanium White acrylic paint, and I use that--The one problem is that you really can't do anything over it, so it's no good for fixing mistakes, only for making smooth white areas
Anyway, great shading job, especially on her hair
