In my experience, it's really hard to latch a metal ruler to a pen or mechanical pencil because it's quite heavy.

also i haven't done this with a mechanical pencil, instead i did this with like 7 pens. i was that lone wolf art kid that people loved to borrow pencils from and was usually pretty quiet until i had something amazing to say.
