Man, Anton Yelchin was so the perfect choice to play Chekov. The accent... the cute... the corridor scene... *fans self* I've already worked out what I'm going to say should I ever meet him.

I find that rather amusing, because this is the exact reaction they were trying to get when they introduced Koenig as the original Chekov.
The actor has said that he was pretty much just supposed to be the cute kid who gets in trouble so they could get preteens (the "bubblegum set") to watch the show. It must have worked, 'cause he got a lot of fan mail from kids saying he was "groovy."
