Description
This is a commissioned 9"x 12" piece for Eclypse of her character, Leatherkatt, who is, as she describes herself, an "owl winged knot-work striped white Siberian tiger".All I can say is that knotwork, though beautiful, really made me work those art muscles lol. Drawing her was easy enough, thanks to the detailed descriptions in Eclypse's journal...but oh that knotwork!
I ended up doing everything *but* the knotwork - including the background and all the coloring - first, and then filling the patterns in last. I actually wasn't going to put a background in at first, because I was afraid it would be too busy and distract from the main character, but I'm happy I did because I think the contrast of white fur and green forest works really well.
She is looking in the mirror at her...I guess dark side? She has bioluminescent markings that glow blue under a black light, so I wanted to show a bit of both in this picture...though in the end, you don't see much of the glowy markings in the reflection, except for the markings on her face.
Anyway, I hope you like it Eclypse!
*pant pant* This artist needs a good nap after that one lol
P.S. What looks grey in this pic is actually silver, done with my silver sharpie marker. Looks way cool when the light flashes on it.
