Description
Summary: Set back in Spring. After a chat with Ramses and a small reminder from Hawkweed that he wasn’t as cold or as heartless as he tried to appear. Argus finds Iorikh to apologize for insulting him and trying to kill the the russet wolf through hypothermia. Shockingly, Iorikh is much more accepting of the apology than he thought he’d be, and even seems somewhat grateful for it. But doesn’t leave off without some advice and maybe even a small jab, at the Indas on controlling his impulses better. Something he’d take to heart for the future.

—---------------------------------------------------
While his wounds healed he had spoken with Ramses about the incident. Their conversation had certainly stuck, pinging in his head for weeks. In truth though he’d been avoiding it, pride getting the better of him. But a recent conversation with Hawkweed was the nail in the coffin, a well-needed reminder that he wasn’t an emotionless stone of a wolf.
It had taken a few weeks to both find the courage and let go of his pride, for Argus to seek out Iorikh. However the guilt that had been eating away at him had been far greater than either combined. This was something that needed to be done
“Iorikh,” his voice was heavy in the spring air. “I want to apologize for… what I said to you at the river. I have no excuse, I got mad and wasn't thinking before I said it.” Argus paused for a moment. “I’m also sorry for dragging you into the river and leaving you there, I was wrong to do either of those. It was cruel, plain and simple.” His throat tightened. He made no excuses, no attempts to justify it, because there was no justifying any of it. The Indas bit his tongue in silent dread, whether or not Iorikh would accept his apology was up to him, Argus felt relieved to have this weight lifted from him regardless.
—------- —--------
The guilt that Argus felt, by now, had little purpose.
In the time it took for the silver wolf to seek the brute he'd bested in deep winter out, Iorikh had digested the entire interaction as something rather formative. Helpful, even.
That said, when his own name rang in the russet wolf's ears and the apology followed in a voice unmistakably familiar..
Well, the apology sounded right, more or less. Or rather, the tinge of guilt sounded right?
Straight to the point, and perhaps alarmingly simple, "All's forgiven. I don't hold a grudge, and you did me a bit of a favour in getting it together."
Ior shrugged before even turning around, but after a moment's thought..
The brute spoke again, voice a little lower as if he didn't want to be heard by anyone but the other.
"Not that I particularly mind," he began, slow to turn and face the other- well, where he best guessed Argus stood.
"But you might want to work on those murderous impulses. My temper is horrid, but jumping from insults to attempted drowning is a bit much, isn't it?"
It was hard to tell if Iorikh was coming from a place of humour, or issuing a dead serious warning. Really, it could have been either. At the least, he was smiling a bit.
Iorikh wouldn't say he didn't deserve what he'd gotten, but Iorikh wasn't a particularly sensible wolf. And of that much, he was aware.
"Either way, as I said, all's well."
