Description

Jackal and Dark Water have been these story's names since their inception back when I was 14, but they've changed so much since then that new names feel necessary. Jackal was named that because I had no other ideas so I combined the initials of the main characters to make Racl which sounded like Jackal. In the beginning I tried to give it a real reason to be named that but it never worked out. 13 Beware on the other hand is actually related to the plot, both in including 13 and because it comes from the final line of the nursery rhyme One for Sorrow, which is, "Thirteen beware it's the devil himself," which also relates to Almoth being a demon.

Dark Water was named that because there was a pool of black water that the cats built their group around but I eventually scrapped the idea and focused more on Sylvester and Harbor which brought the story more into a murder mystery direction. With no more dark water in the story, Dark Water no longer fit as a title but Crimson Drought fits both the tone and the story, with its themes of survival and violence.
