Thank you, really. Most people don't have the balls to submit something like this. It's all about the perfect body, perfect face, perfect hair, perfect everything...and I'm sick of it. It's so wonderful to see something like this, it truly is.

After looking at it for some time and after reading through the comments, I couldn't resist the urge to spread my thoughts too. I can't share the sanctimoniousness of some commentators. I, for myself, must admit that I do prefer "perfect" female bodies before "non-perfect" bodies like yours. I wouldn't consider you a unsightly person (I don't see your face), but nontheless I can't say, that I like what I see.

But on the other hand and beside great technical skills, I admire your courage. Not only to show your body as it is but also to fully live in and with it. That is what many people (including me) still have to learn. Bravo!

Well I appreciate your honesty, of course there are those out there that prefer 'prefection' over 'non-perfection' but that is besides the point. I am merely saying that regardless of appearances, I am still female and still undeniably a woman. Imperfections, flaws, what-have-you; they all make us who we are. I personally prefer to cherish mine rather than cover them, edit them (with photoshop and surgery) and hate them. I am who I am, nothing more - nothing less.

someone already mentioned they aren't the biggest fan of artistic nudes, and neither am i, but...

i'll agree when they say the natural female form is beautiful. i hate it when we women are portrayed as perfect and nothing but sex objects.

Every curve, every line, fall perfectly into each other. The softness of this makes me smile, maybe because everything in this picture seems perfect in its own time as I look at it, and that makes it radiate something sweet. There is comfort in this image, that's its beauty to me.

Stirringly honest. This seems almost like a painting, perhaps by Jenny Saville. Exposed, expressive and so deeply full of emotion, despite the obviously expressive parts like the face and hands being visible.

Absolutely stunning work.

I make the claim that you've moved out of the realm of simple photography into the realm of expressionism and experimentation with the simple, banal thrill of WYSIWYG. What I mean by that is your works incorporate a fantastic exhibitionism to them, that I think loosens or frees the people who visit your gallery little by little. Click by click. I say brava!

The more I look at this, the more I like it (Didn't mean to stare). It seems like a culmination of some kind. You've been working toward this for some time. I agree with most of the well-deserved kudos above (Although, I'm a little leary of the "pee hole" comment). The composition, the crop, and the lighting are all perfect for the type of statement that I think you're making (Take it or leave it?). But I don't think you are "stripped of all (your) insecurities". On the contrary, what makes the photo powerful is that you're wearing them (and not much else). You're sharing them with us, with the whole world which is why I worry about you. Take care.

Shoot man! Miriam is just trying to get on folks nerves. Don't even pay that much attention to her. She's just crotchety and doesn't have enough pain medication. Whoever this Cramp that Bites womans name is: she has a great body. I don't really base that on any desperate compromise like some dudes. I believe I have seen past the entertainment industries packaged deals of sexy. There ideas are no longer mine. I do like certain types of women, but certainly not what the fashion industry finds acceptable.

I don't think crampthatbites has that many insecurities. It seems to me she's ticked off about having to work her ass off. She probably doesn't get any affection or understanding from men. She's getting older, I would guess late thirties or forties. She's worked her whole life and doesn't have much to show for it. Most guys do think with their genitals or have little interest in romance or conversation. She's tired and in pain. She would like someone to give a $H!?. It's not so unusual for her to hope someone would care is it? I worry about people who think she should suffer in silence. Eventually some of us decide to give up the therapy because we are making ourselves sick with our selfish whiny misery. Our depression annoys us to the point of furious stifling of it. Some of us don't spend our whole lives on drugs in fear of our own minds. Excuse us for worrying you. We're terribly sorry.

Fight the power sister.

lydiahudgens In reply to sixpence [2005-04-07 18:06:38 +0000 UTC]

Well in that regard, I suppose I am wearing them but I won't deny them anymore either. To worry about what someone thinks of me and my body to the point of depression - well it's ridiculous. I've come to the point where I'm starting not to care about what people (society in general) thinks of me. I personally think I am a good person, intelligent and kind (regardless of the bitch commentary, ) and of course I still have insecurities, I think mankind as a whole does - I just admit mine, freely.

Anyway, thank you for the comment and the fav.

Honey, you go a few risky steps past just "admitting" them.
But leaving behind the "meaning" for a minute, it's a wonderful image- the tones are really beautiful. Soft and subtle. Ultimately, that's what makes it such a fine piece of art for me.

blackzer0 [2005-04-07 14:48:28 +0000 UTC]

The decentered composition is swell and the cropping favours the body; there's no face (or hands or feet) that distract from this body, and so the cropping is a statement in itself.

I seriously admire your courage for posting this. I too used to have a low sense of self-image, but I still do as well and I don't think I could ever submit such a photo.
Also, your vulva is very pretty, I mean it.

Major props to you.

lydiahudgens In reply to blackzer0 [2005-04-07 18:14:13 +0000 UTC]

Like I said in a comment beforehand - I think it has come to the point where everyone (regardless of bodytype, sex, etc) has (or has had) self esteem issues, I'm just willing to freely admit mine. I have friends who are far skinner than I, with gorgeous bodies and gorgeous minds and frequently I find them worried about that inch of fat around their midsection or how the skin along their thighs looks. Of course men worry, some men anyway - they just deny it more I suppose. It's sad but true how society has made people overly worried about their bodies, with the diet fads and plastic surgery. I personally, refuse to look like a barbie doll and I find nothing sexy about a Ken doll either. Real to me is a beautiful mind rather than a hot set of abs but like I said, that's just me.

Anyway, thanks for the commentary.
