When I first heard about the arena scene in Jedi: Fallen Order, my vague notion of it was somewhat different than what it turned out to be - I think I was envisioning a sort of Episode I podracing situation, with the crew needing cash and hatching a harebrained scheme to enter Cal in a fighting ring and bet on him.
The key difference being, he’d have to be somewhat undercover for it to work. He’d have to hide his Force powers and get by with fists and whatever weapons he could steal from opponents. Maybe at the end things would go south or the Empire would show up, and then he could get his laser-swording in? IDK. Like I said, it was only a vague concept of what might happen, but I’m still attached to the idea. If I was a longfic writer I’d be tempted to write it.
I also think this would be neat from a gameplay point of view. You spend the whole game doing fancy Force tricks and whatnot, having to go up against the same enemies without it would be a challenge and it’d make it that much more satisfying to have it back.
(Was this also an excuse to draw him roughed up a bit? Yes, of course.)
