Seeing Derpy take the stage with her cello upside down, the ponies in the audience started whispering amongst themselves. Surely the poor mare was going to make a fool of herself.
The lights dimmed, and everypony went silent. As they prepared for the worst, beautiful music began to come from the inverted instrument. All but one pony in the audience simply stared in amazement. The one remaining pony, a grey mare with a treble clef for her cutie mark, smiled knowing that she had found a way to teach her unusual friend how to perform.

As she played, the wall-eyed pegasus caught a glimpse of Octavia's gentle smile. Derpy grinned back and winked, indicating her appreciation for the earth pony's teachings. Said pony winked back, having recieved the message.
At the climax of cello suite, the audience remained silent. Seconds passed. Derpy began to get nervous under the stress of the moment. Then the pegasus' eyes and ears were assaulted with a standing ovation that would have toppled her over had she not leaned on her cello for support.
Derpy Doo smiled, proud of her accomplishment.
