From what I understand Deadpool became an in-joke between Rob Liefeld(artist) and Fabian Nicieza(writer) both of whom created the character. Fabian made his name Wade Wilson which was lifted from Deathstroke's Slade Wilson as a slight commentary on Liefeld's habit of "borrowing" from other artists.
Nice art, I love that bit with the eye used for symmetry. The odd couple of the Marvel and Dc world. Deathstroke fights a group of teenage super heroes and is known as the terminator. Deadpool once dated Death and fights everyone.

I know about this.
These two characters are pits against all the time, and Slade always wins. I'm okay with that because it's really a matter of opinion, but the problem is it's almost always a thing where the Slade fans are absolutely rude about it.
Really, the two should even be compared, one is a serious villian, the other is a joke meta character.
