Chosun dynasty. Five palaces from this period still exist in Seoul. The last king was Kojung. He was taken from the throne when the Japanese annexed Korea in the early 1900s. Koreans regained their independance in 1945 with the end of WWII. These buildings are maintained today as a symbol of Korea's royal history.Related content
