For Marisa Bruno's #CryptidInJuly tag on twitter.An iconic cryptid, but that's not what interests me. I like how it is often attributed to sightings of rabbits with Shope Papilloma Virus- which causes cancerous growths on the rabbit's head. Furthermore, the study of these carcinoma eventually led to the development of a vaccine for HPV.
