I like this picture, the character has a gentle smile that almost seems to quote anonenffan , "soft and inviting" but there is something more to this than just that. I feel like your attempts to make it more realistic worked well for you. The shading is fantastic, I'm not an overly big fan of cell shading which this appears to have avoided by letting the shadows fade off naturally. This doesn't have nearly as many lines as a lot of others works have had with regards to shading. You are just a very skilled artist.
I'd take points off for the lack of colour but I also feel that was done deliberately since it doesn't take away from the image so I really don't have much to complain about. Same goes for the background.
