Hello there, ladies and gentlemen. This is my very first journal entry and I write it for the sake of personal development and improvement. Firstly, I would like to say that in this dark and lonely world, despite its many possibilities, I am feeling more alone and isolated than ever. I am not unused to this way of life however, I quite like it in fact, but it is in these particular times that I feel an emptiness inside which I yearn to be filled.

Many might say that this is simply social isolation, and that all I need to do is go out and meet people. Although engaging in social activity does help to a certain extent, I have found throughout life that it never lasts. Deep down, I crave something more. What it is exactly, I am unsure. But what I do know is that I have a hunger. It is a hunger so deep down and entrenched in my blood and bone that I doubt it will ever be satisfied, but I do have a rough idea of what it calls for...

Purpose.

I believe that what I truly yearn for in life, is purpose. But how do I find such a thing? Well, I have always had in my mind a deep vision of profound bliss, a world in which humanity has not only united under one roof of Earthly acceptance, but has, in fact, conquered the very depths of space beyond it. I have always believed that, as a species, our most important goal in life is to preserve life. Human life, of which, is the most fundamental. One reason for this is that if all other life were to vanish from the world, we are the only known life-form with the intelligence and technological capabilities to bring it all back.

But what about us, ourselves? Who will bring us back from the grave? If such a thing were ever to occur, it is highly doubtful that our revived heirs would have the freedom that we possess today, as it would surely be an advanced life-form or other sentient being with great intelligence that brings us back; enough intelligence to realise that we're actually a threat to its existence. Therefore, quite simply, once we're gone, we're gone for good. Survival, then, of our entire species, is surely the only true purpose worth pursuing.

Our very own survival as a species, however, is dependent on so many things. From catastrophic self-destruction caused by nuclear armageddon or global warming, to things we have no control over such as solar storms, meteors
or endemic pathogen outbreaks, we are truly living dangerously on the edge of extinction. Mostly, however, it is our own ability to adapt to the physical restraints of our Universe, and ultimately become a space-faring species, that will prove to be our saviour. After all, the more planets and other destinations that we occupy, the higher our chances of surviving. But even this is no easy task.

The one true key to it all, however, the one thing that makes it all truly possible, is technology. How we use that technology, such as not exterminating each other with it, is also a factor. But, ultimately, it is our scientific progress and ingenuity that decides our true fate in the end. But, in this vision I have, humanity has not just struggled to battle the fabrics of space and time. In my vision, it has actually won. It is a vision where we, the human race, have, in fact, ascended and become the Gods of our Universe.

Imagine, a Universe where we are the creators. Imagine a Universe where, through years of unified research and working together as one, we have finally attained the tools of ascension to become the Gods we were always meant to be. A Universe where we find cold, barren worlds, empty and desolate in the black of space, and transform them into the very paradise we envision them to be. To saturate the soil with life, to create life where there was none before, to establish a living sanctuary, a new Eden, a lush haven in the black abyss of space. Then, finally, to colonise it with our own blessed footsteps. This is a Universe I wish to be a part of, a Universe I wish to create. And that is the vision that I wish to express.

So, how then do I go about this colossal and highly ambitious task? Well, quite simply, I cannot do it alone. Perhaps not even in my lifetime. But, it is a vision I live for, nonetheless. It is also times like these, alone and able to reflect, that I remember this vision I so often forget. This is why, I have decided, I shall write for myself a list. It will be a list to remind me of what I truly stand for, what I must do and to feed my inner devotion that calls for such meaning in life. I shall write, in essence, my own tenets to live by. I write them not to control or limit myself, but, instead, to break free my chains and remember the freedom and inner power that I possess. It is a freedom and power within each and every one of us that, when we realise it, can truly change not only ourselves, but also the world around us, provided that we have the will to act and the conviction to see it through.

Sometimes all it takes, is a little reminder...

So, I hope you have enjoyed reading this first journal entry. I shall write more on this subject on my next one.
