Description It hadn't been an easy experience so far. Black Sun had been jittery from the start and suddenly being surrounded by so many other horses, so close by, that he couldn't get away from wasn't making things any better. He'd become nervous, agressive - alternatingly standing in his stall shivering and trying to attack the horses in the stalls on either side. His ears, flattened against his skull, sweat dripping down his legs. There were so many people, so many other animals and noises - so many noises, from everything from the stablehands to the showgrounds. It seemed to be taking him right back, and it wasn't a good place to go. Mae was even beginning to wonder if she'd made the right choice coming here.
In the end, when nothing they did seemed to work, they'de made arrangements for him to be moved somewhere more private and further away from the hustle and bustle. It wasn't really a proper stable, but with a bit of clearing out, it was good enough for a couple of days, all things considered. Mendo had been very accomondating, which Mae was more than grateful for. She'd hoped that Sunnie had come further, but they obviously needed to work more on him.
Thankfully, once he was away from it all, he seemed to calm down. Coming down to the fields for practice only, he was still difficult and unhappy, but he seemed to have gotten over the worst of it. Mae only hoped that there wouldn't be any lapses during the show itself.

There were a few hiccups. Black Sun, already as tense as a spring threatening to break free at any moment, managed to tear his bridle and, with less than 10 minutes before they were due to start, there'd been a mad scrabble to find a replacement. The one they ended up with was, no matter how you tried to lengthen it, too short. But, taking out the bit, Mae slipped it over his head, once she managed to coax it down to a managable level. It looked odd, and probably didn't provide much in terms of ordinary control, but it was the best there was. Besides, she figured that if Sunnie was going to throw a fit, no amount of bits were going to make the slightest bit of a difference - no pun intended.

In the end, the stallion managed the full course. It was edgy. He was tense. They almost crashed into one of the fences when not turning quickly enough. Not seeming to have quite full control over his limbs, he knocked into several of the bars.
Even so, just getting through it all and getting out alive and in one piece were more than just a small victory for the rescue horse.

Thanks You have no idea what a great compliment that was. I hate drawing humans, so don't get nearly enough practice

Hehe, good to know that the jump was worth while. Man made things with straight lines tend to be the stuff of nightmares for me

Mmm...I found a new way of doing tails (and hair in general). I think, once I've gotten the hang of it, it'll be brilliant

Have to admit, I'm proud of those trees. For me trees tend to end up like a brown stick with a green blob on top so glad it came out nice.

Yeah, my wrist gets mighty sore after a big piece. Colouring my grandmother's birthday card was the biggest pain.

And no problem!
