Duskshade explores carrion place.------------------------------
The auburn sky was beginning to streak indigo as the bright rays of the sun started to be replaced with the gentler light of the moon. It was during this period of dusk that a cat whose name shared the time of day was padding through Shadowclan territory. Dark paws carried him swiftly towards carrion place, a darker tail tip flicking impatiently behind him.
Duskshade was, simply put, bored. He had already hunted earlier in the day and been assigned to patrol, so he felt like his warrior duties were sufficiently met for the day. That, unfortunately, left the tom with very little to keep himself occupied for the evening. While Duskshade had never been a fan of carrion place, always thinking of it as a filthy place meant for rats and nothing else, that meant that he had never truly taken time to explore it.
Upon coming face to face with the looming piles of crowfood and waste, however, he was beginning to think that perhaps his lack of interest was well-placed.
He was already there, though, and it would be a complete and utter waste of time to come all this way and head back here. With a begrudging sigh, Duskshade made his way over to the hole in the fence that his clanmates often used to enter the dreadful place. The stars were just beginning to come out and into the sky, though they did little to shed more light on the dark feline slipping into the even darker part of the territory.
The scent of rotting garbage was apparent as soon as Duskshade stepped paw into carrion place. Disgust had him wrinkling his nose, and once again he found himself wondering if he should simply turn around and head back. Any hunting that would be done here would be almost-crowfood at best, and disease-ridden at worst.
An inkling memory of a conversation with his fathers came to his mind. They once explored it together as a brand new mated pair, and came across some interesting accessories that they used to solidify their bond. While Duskshade had no one to share any prizes with- yuck- the idea of finding a nice looking artifact was enough to keep him in carrion place. For now.
Rumbling softly to himself, he picked his way around, finding many black shiny things. Curious, he took a claw to one of them, carefully ripping it apart. He had chosen one that hadn't been too stuffed, and some random things tumbled out slowly. None caught his eye, but it provided an interesting idea: he could just claw open a couple of these black shiny things and see if he could find something interesting!
His fathers had never explained how they found their special artifacts that they had cherished so much. In hindsight, Duskshade probably should have asked them before he trekked all the way out there, but it was too late now. He certainly didn't want to make a habit of coming to this wretched place.
Duskshade spent some time out in carrion place, until the moon was high in the sky and he could hear the rats growing more active- he didn't want to be caught by a swarm, so he took that as a sign to leave.
