Description
OC week Day 5: World of RuinMuch to Indra’s dismay, it was determined that she was too young (about 14 here) and not a good team player to be considered in joining the Glaives.
Instead she was stationed at Lestallum’s Mess Hall duties. Having to make meals out of whatever scraps and non-daemon meat hunters and suppliers could find. Fruits, vegetables, and spices were becoming very few and far between. They were able to grow some in a simulated green house setting with sun lamps but the process was slow. Sometimes weeks between seeing anything green at all. But still they scraped by. Until the sun lamps broke, one by one, and they couldn’t replace them because they can’t mass produce the bulbs right now. Let alone be found. This was becoming a battle of attrition. If the Daemons didn’t kill them, maybe starvation and lack of nutrition will.
When she wasn’t sweating it out in the kitchen, she was tending to Chocobos with Sania. Who had been dating Gladio for a while now. These Chocobos had missions of their own, to run out and restore power to the down EOS grid. Some never returning. Neither were some people who had missions outside of Lestallum’s slowly decaying, re-inforced, barracked walls. The only other thing keeping them “safe” from the monsters in the endless night.
Rumours were flying about a certain, now blind, royal guard “training” hard with Aranea. Yet he was living with Cid and Cindy, who loved eating his cooking. Routine Royal tomb raiding adventures with Talcott in hopes of finding a way to save the king or bring him back proved unsuccessful. At least he had something to do when he wasn’t fighting and “training.” There were even whispers about the wild nights he’d have with some power station workers. Maybe trying to soothe his loneliness with pleasurable company.
Prompto’s relentless, yet fruitless pursuit of Cindys love and affection were the unintentional comic relief of town. Many women thought he was cute and sought him out, only to be turned down because they weren’t the girl that he truly wants.
None of which could be proven true or false but it was more exciting than hearing about who died or turned into a Daemon each day. At least for other people.
Indra couldn’t care less about the towns gossip so she remained rather ignorant. Why would it matter who is dating who and who is doing what anyway when it has nothing to do with her?
Although Indra was fiercely independent and doesn’t mind being alone. She still found herself lonely and feeling invisible. Unable to recall a time where she actually felt seen, safe, and loved by anyone. She felt guilty of that because the world is literally ending around her. People are dying or are getting turned into Daemons! Love, companionship, and friendship should be the least of her or anyone’s concern. All she could do accept that this is the life she and many have now, not even by her own choosing. Possibly dying for the greater good might be the only thing she has going for her now as the future seems bleak.
One night she meets a handsome young Glaive who made her feel seen for the first time in her life. Reluctantly she falls for him and he does for her. They spend a lot of time together but never getting too close because having babies during the apocalypse wasn’t a risk neither of them were willing to take. Besides, the slight age difference would make this union rather scandalous. Not that anyone had the time to care about other people’s business. Of course the rumour mill would say otherwise. After dating for some years, he promises to propose to her if the dawn ever returns or when she turns 18. Once married they can then have the relationship they so desired. Until then, they keep things slow, discreet, and innocent. While planning and dreaming about how life together will be like if the dawn ever returns.

I thought this was a challenging piece to make because once again, we have the back of someone’s head and tiny little details. For some reason I watched the olympics opening ceremony and was inspired to make her outfit the colors of the Barbados flag. I think it works well here.
