Description As Sophia grasped her gemstone, she stared at the destruction before her by the huge, pitch black creature. She knew she had to do something. But what? What can she do? She’s not a magical girl. She’s not even fit to be one!

She stared at the glowing amethyst. She doesn’t know why, but every time she stared at the gemstone, her mind began to slowly form these weird, dream-like sequences. In the past, every dream involved her entire family in it. But she never really heard their voices. All she saw were the faces of her mother, her spouse, her uncle, her surrogate grandparents… all of them. But ever since the days and months that neared her 14th birthday, the dreams became clearer and clearer. Their voices were heard, their faces were clearer. Her mother, or at least that’s what she believes to be, called her “Imouto.” Not Sophia. Imouto. Her face had a smile that was bigger than the one she saw in real life. Her mom’s smile was a smile that was smaller than the dream’s. And it felt like a smile that held in the pains and sorrows of what happened in the past. Sophia would not believe that girl who smiled big in her dream was her mother, as almost every mother and daughter moment had Sophia looking up to her mother and seeing the tears in her eyes or a sad expression. Same applies to almost everyone in her family. One look and they suddenly grow a somber expression. Some even went far to breaking down in tears.

And for a long time, she has always heard she reminded everyone of a magical girl named Sophia Torres. She heard from her parents that she was named after her because Sophia Torres was loved by them. And she died a horrific death one night that ignited a war. It always made her wonder how she reminded them of this Sophia.

But as she stared at the gemstone, she started getting even more memories. Memories that seem to date far back. When her mother was not her true mother. Her dreams as a child. Experiencing new worlds beyond her own. Then those days when her family was happier than now. Smiles were bigger, laughter was heard, and most of all, there were no scars, physically and emotionally. Everyone was happy.

But then she had a nightmare, where she saw a black, ink demon raise his claws, and slash at her. She remembered the stories of Sophia Torres told by all of her family members. And Sophia realized they were Past Sophia’s memories. It made her wonder why she is even having these memories.

A large boom shook the air, making Sophia look up and see a plethora of lights of all colors, assaulting the destructor. But there was still not enough strength to even leave a scratch.

Sophia looked down at her birthstone one last time, remembering how gemstone warriors bear the powers of their birthstone. And then, she raised the gemstone to the air, making it glow bright and suddenly, in a burst of purple light and darkness, she was raised in the air. But in every swift of magic, the memories were now as clear as day. But when the amethyst planted on her forehead…

She heard the voices of her loved ones, her own voice, the sounds of the animals she befriended……

And the sound of a destructor’s roar. When her feet touched the ground, she looked up at the destructor. And just like it was an instinct, she jumped toward the destructor, her wings sprouting from her back. She pulled out her paintbrush, and when she was close enough, she swished it, releasing a wave of purple light.

After Sophia landed onto the ground after she watched the destructor disintegrate, she heard a loud shout behind her.

“Sophia! Oh my god! Don’t you ever run off like that!”

Sophia turned around and saw her mother. A worried look on her face, but that soon changed into a shocked expression and she slid to a stop. Her mother stared at her and Sophia stared back, her gemstone still glowing. Sophia watched her mom as she approached her a little.

“Sophia?” her mother said, almost quietly.

At that moment, Sophia realized… All those dreams, the reason why so many of her loved ones cry in her presence…

Sophia only said the next words as she stared at her Lythian mother….

“Onee… chan…”
