Chapter 3: MysteriesBack at the Unknown World, Lilac Breeze—the light amethyst magical girl of the wind—was sitting on the rooftop of the hospital in her magical girl outfit, eating some chocolate ice cream off a cone while she held her purse. Ever since she found out about the shooting, the older warriors have wanted young ones to go and scout for any clues, because according to one of the warriors, this shooting is connected to the hateful church and maybe the others who are just like them.
Lilac couldn’t help but wonder about what happened the night those two events happened. Bendy’s attack and then to the shooting of SEA (Sophia, Evelyn, and Alexis). According to some friends of hers—including her friend group—she was told that the evil Christians were torturing Bendy and many other demons, but rumors say that this torture was planned so demons can be “obliterated” and that sinful people like Sophia should just die. In her eyes, that is the most evilest and un-Christian thing of a Christian.
She bit her cone while her eyes were on the city ground, watching like a hawk seeking its prey. She wanted to look around for the criminal, because she suspects that Melissa Norman is behind this.
“Lilac!”
Lilac looked back and saw the elemental magical girl of fire, Sasha Bree.
“Hey, Sasha,” Lilac replied.
“Ya heard about the shootin’, lass?” Sasha asked.
“Yeah.”
“Hmph. I suspect those ‘wee lambs of God’ are behind our pal’s fall. After all, news did say they were involved with Bendy’s little rampage.”
“Me too. I mean, Christians nowadays are being idiots. Sophia is a rare breed of Christian and it’s no surprise that the idiotic ones want this breed off the face of the earth.”
“Might as well do what we good humans do. Save those critically endangered animals.”
“Yeah.”
The two warriors fell quiet, running out of ideas to talk about. They stood in silence, watching the city from above, looking for clues.
That was until they spotted Melissa Norman walking alone on the sidewalk. The light amethyst warrior and the ice warrior felt suspicion crawl up their backs. They observed the traitorous purple girl as she walked on the sidewalk, hoping to find clues from her.
They saw Melissa talking to a girl, supposedly another girl from the hateful church community. Sasha readied her hand and aimed it at Melissa to shoot a burst of flame, but Lilac gently placed it down a bit while her eyes were on the two girls.
She watched as Melissa then walked away and the girl she talked to walked into the hospital.
“Sasha,” she spoke. “Can we go check the hospital a bit?”
“Sure,” The fire magical girl replied.
Lilac pulled her magical gem away and Sasha tapped on her ring. Their magical girl outfits disappeared and in their places were their normal outfits. Lilac stored her heart-shaped gem into the earring on her left ear and used her wind powers to make her and her friend fly down to the entrance of the hospital. Then the two began to venture into the hospital. Lilac went and asked the woman up at the desk for the room where Sophia is.
After the woman gave her the room number, the two human girls went to find that number. They went up the elevator and went to find where the human girl sleeps now.
When they reached the number, they found the girl that Melissa talked to. She had brunette hair and a black shirt. She wore blue jeans and white shoes. Her hand was reaching towards Sophia’s still body.
The sound of rapid beeping was heard like something was wrong. Then it went faster and faster.
The two girls saw that the girl raising a hand at Sophia meant she’s manipulating her life and knew that something was really wrong. Lilac walked in immediately when she knew that.
“Hey,” she said.
The girl looked back and saw the human girl walking in. Her glare strengthens and her hand pulls her hand away, only for the monitor to continue beating.
“That wee little...!” Sasha growled as the sound of beeping rung in the halls, near Sophia’s hospital room.
The nurses and doctors went rushing in and surrounding the poor human girl on the hospital bed. One of them ordered the three young girls to give space and stay out of the room. They obliged and left the room, only for the them to be left in the hallway, glaring at each other darkly.
“You..,” said the girl.
“You were trying to kill her, were you?” Lilac asked.
“I am only trying to remove this sinful creature,” replied the girl.
Sasha glared darkly at the girl, her yellow eyes staring at the girl’s brown eyes with a rage that burned like wildfire.
“Same thing, ya dumbarse.”
The girl just scoffed. “Don’t call me a dumbass because it’s a totally different thing. You just can’t see it.”
“I see a girl who is sweet and loving to even the worst of people and you just want people like that extinct,” Lilac spat.
“You girls don’t get it do you? People like you are parasites. You think your ‘love’ are curing the world, but no. You’re spreading lies. Words from false prophets. Do you really think that supporting gays, soldiers, that mysterious human girl, and her demon friend will get you to Heaven. Makes me feel sorry that you’ll forever be damned.”
Sasha crossed her arms. “Look who’s talking.”
“Ladies.”
The three girls looked and saw one of the nurses standing in front of them now, her arms crossed and giving them a serious look.
“If you’re gonna fight,” she said, “don’t do it here in the hospital or anywhere near it. And you, young lady.”
The nurse looked at the human girl who was with Sophia a while ago.
“You broke the rules of this hospital. I should call the police for attempting to kill a patient, especially when they’re at a critical state.”
“Please. God will damn you to Hell if you ever help that disgusting creature more.”
Then the girl began to have a bright aura and she vanished into sparkles.
“Dammit..,” Sasha mumbled.
“You girls should be careful.”
Both Lilac and Sasha looked at the nurse, who showed a really serious look and it told the two girls to listen.
“There were rumors of that one church wanting to burn down any church that allows anyone in, and I mean anyone. Including gays, soldiers, everyone.”
“Are you serious?” Lilac asked.
The nurse nodded. “Go. Be safe. I have to check up on Sophia now.”
The girls nodded and then turned around. They walked into the elevator and tapped the buttons to go down.
After they left the hospital, Lilac took out her phone from her purse and started to text Seraphina.
Lilac: Hey, Sera?
Seraphina: Yeah?
Lilac: We got something.
Seraphina: Oh? Like?
Lilac: A girl is trying to kill Sophia and from what she told me and Melissa 2, she’s one of the hateful Christians wishing for Sophia’s death.
Seraphina: WTF?
Lilac: I know! I think we’re in big trouble.
Seraphina: That’s hella big trouble. Want me to tell them?
Lilac: No. Sasha will do it.
Seraphina: Fine.
Then Lilac put her phone back into her purse, zipping it up before looking up and walking with Sasha.
“Goin’ ta tell Bendy?” Sasha asked.
“Yeah. He needs to know this. Now.”
——————
At ToonTown, Bendy and Darla were cuddling on the couch as they were watching an old toon of theirs on TV. It was a toon that was about him and Darla. Bendy was trying to save her from the taxi, Gaskette. Bendy was running after him and planning to stop him from ever trying to steal her away.
Darla gently nuzzled Bendy when she saw him shoot needles at the wheels and couldn’t help but nuzzle him, purrs being heard from her. Bendy nuzzled her back gently and kept watching.
After Gaskette fell on the road after his tires were deflated, Cartoon Bendy quickly pulled on the car door and when the door opened, Darla jumped out and fell into her boyfriend’s arms. Bendy quickly ran away from Gaskette, leaving Gaskette releasing a yell.
Bendy and Darla in the cartoon just reached a restaurant and Bendy looked at her. Darla looked at him with the most affectionate look. Then she and Bendy leaned in and kissed each other on the lips before they pulled away and walked into the restaurant, ending the cartoon.
Darla sighed. “That’s one of the sweetest cartoons I have ever seen.”
Bendy chuckled. “Yep. When I save you from that taxi.”
Darla raised her head gently and looked at Bendy before she kissed his lips. Bendy returned it before she pulled away.
“Honey, you should really pay him if you’re gonna go for a ride,” she said. “That’s the reason why he’s so aggressive to you.”
“I know, sweetie, but you know me. I’m a mischievous little demon.”
Darla giggled. “Of course.”
Bendy leaned in and kissed her lips, feeling Darla return the kiss. He purred as he held his girlfriend tight, keeping his lips connected to hers. Then, he gently pulled away, his pie-cut eyes staring at Darla’s adorable eyes.
She giggled softly. “You’re not just any mischievous devil. You’re my mischievous devil.”
“And you’re my little devil darling,” Bendy replied, kissing her lips more.
Darla giggles through the kiss before he pulled away.
Soon, thoughts and wonders soon smashed into Bendy’s mind like a raid on a heavily built fortress. After seeing his cartoon, he is instantly reminded of his biggest wonder. The shooting of Sophia and Melissa’s insults. It reminded him of his biggest question: How can he protect Sophia, Darla, and everyone he loves from enemies like Melissa?
Bendy’s smile gently grew into a frown and he gently looked away from Darla. Darla saw the look again and thought he was thinking of Sophia again.
“Bendy,” she said. “It’s fine—“
“Hey, sweetie?” Bendy asked.
Darla paused before she spoke a bit. “Yes?”
“Is there any way I can protect Sophia? And protect you? And everyone I love?”
“You did protect us! And you’re good at being a protector too. Why would you ask such a thing?”
“Because... well... Melissa Norman... and all those bad people... Sophia is an innocent gal and I want to protect her. Like, return the favor. She’s been protecting me, Boris, Alice, everyone and now I think it’s my turn to protect her and everyone I love, but I don’t know how.”
Darla sighed and brought her hands to his cheek, gently pushing it so he can look at her.
“Darling. Before those thirty years, you have been one of the greatest protectors of me. When people think I’m horrible and attempt to attack me, you come in and save me. I believe you did a great job protecting me. I even think you did a good job protecting Sophia from those bullies that day. I believe you do great as a protector. And what do you mean, ‘Is there a way?’ There is a way. It’s by, well, acting to your instincts.”
“Really?”
“Of course. You’re the older brother. A good older brother would jump in and act to save his younger sister.”
Bendy smiled. “I guess you’re right...”
Then he remembered the night of his torture and how they shot the dip at him and Sophia one time. “But what if they’re too powerful?”
“Then just keep fighting until they stop.”
Bendy fell silent a bit. Keep fighting, huh? He can’t help but feel like he needs to do more. Melissa, all those evil people from the Unknown World, they’re strong. And since he’s the witness to Sophia’s power, he knows that these humans are super powerful than him, let alone toon entities like the Devil from Cuphead or Greek gods from Disney’s Hercules.
But he knows that he should do what he can to protect his sister, his girl, his friends, and his family.
Even if it kills him.
“You’re right,” he said. “I should be the older brother I am to her and be the best boyfriend to you. The good demon I wanted to be.”
“That’s it!” Darla exclaimed. “That’s the little devil darling I wanted to see!”
Bendy chuckled. And then, his phone rang.
“The phone!” he said.
Darla gently got off him and Bendy quickly went to the phone, seeing it was from one pf Sophia’s friends, Lilac Breeze. He picked up the phone and answered it.
“Hello?” he asked.
Darla sat back and watched as Bendy began listening to whoever was talking in the phone.
“What?” Bendy asked, sounding intimidated or shocked of something.
Darla tilted her head in confusion. Until Bendy yelled out, “Someone tried to kill Sophia?!”
Darla gasped at that. Someone tried to kill Sophia while she was in the hospital?
Bendy sighed, his eyes slowly softening from what Fiona must’ve told him. “Okay... Gotcha... See ya...”
Bendy then slowly placed the phone down and sighed somberly. Darla went down from the couch and walked towards Bendy. She embraced him from behind. She didn’t say anything as she felt his hand touch hers. She can feel the fear in him and she knew he felt those instincts rise. So did she.
But she also realized that she had that growing fear. Someone tried to kill Sophia! It’s possible that she and Bendy are next, but then again, that person might not know how to get to ToonTown. Whatever happens, she knows that Bendy will try to protect her. And she would do anything to do the same.
“We’re gonna be okay,” she said. “Sophia’s gonna be okay... I hope.”
“Me too,” Bendy replied.
—————————
Hours passed and it was afternoon in the Franchise universe. Seraphina, along with two warriors—Aileen and Nisha—were standing on the roof of a building in ToonTown, watching the area. She got a bit distracted and watched her favorite characters pass by, but after that, she just shook it off and resumed her watching.
She held the spear tightly in her hand, her necklace glimmering in the toony sun. It shined brighter when the sun’s rays ran into it. The white skirt of her dress danced with the wind, the little gems sparkled as it flowed with the wind like water.
“This is becoming ridiculous,” Nisha said.
“Hey,” replied Aileen. “We’re gonna see something sooner or later.”
Seraphina was slowly growing bored until she shortly saw Cuphead and Mugman walking on the sidewalk together. Just them.
After that, she looked up to find any suspicions involving any enemies. Anyone who is close to Sophia will become a target, so her eyes went to hawk-mode and watched. Clearly, she didn’t see anything. She just sighed and turned around and walked on the roof to find a place to get down on the ground.
And suddenly...
BOOM!
The three elemental magical girls jumped and turned around immediately, their weapons pointing to where that sound came from. They saw smoke rising up nearby one of the buildings near them.
Screams filled the air and toons of all shapes and sizes were fleeing from the scene before them. Seraphina just went the other direction and rushed to find the area the bomb was implanted, followed by the other two.
When she was near the area, Ivy Toxica, the elemental magical girl of poison, stopped her.
“Get away from here!” she said.
“Why?” Seraphina asked.
“If you ingest the air, you’ll suffer problems!”
Too late. Seraphina sniffed the air and then she covered her nose, turned around, and ran the other way. She coughed as she passed toons and the buildings. The other two followed her behind.
She stopped near a store, away from the bombed area and began to breath. Her throat was sore and her eyes started to feel itchy.
Damn it, she thought. A dip bomb?
“Stupid,” Nisha mumbled as she rubbed her eyes.
“What?” Aileen asked, her voice raspy. “What was that?”
Seraphina didn’t answer. All she did was get out her phone from her necklace and started calling her friends.
——————
“Breaking News: A bomb was blown here in the south of ToonTown. And witnesses say that this bomb was filled with Dip! It has left many toons injured. Luckily, no one was killed.”
After the bomb was blown, Cuphead, Mugman, and the other toons were in the hospital, looking around for any of their friends and family hurt from the bomb.
They walked through the crowded hall, passing by toons. Cuphead peeked into each room to see if anyone he knows is hurt. He did it again and again, until he came to one room.
In the bed was Ms. Chalice!
“Chal!” Cuphead called.
Ms. Chalice looked and saw Cuphead running up to her. She smiled.
“Cupsy..,” she said, weakly.
Cuphead carefully rubbed her cheek, which had a bandage on it. Ms. Chalice leaned against her darling’s touch, relaxing as she felt him stroke her face.
“Are you okay?” Cuphead asked.
“Yes,” Ms. Chalice replied. “A bit hurt, but okay.”
Cuphead sighed in relief. “Thank goodness.”
Ms. Chalice’s smile slowly grew into a frown. Her eyes pry away from Cuphead and to the side.
“Sweetie?” Cuphead asked.
“Why would there be an attack here?” Ms. Chalice asked. “I mean, there was that Doom project, but this...?”
“I don’t know.”
Ms. Chalice sighed. “Well whatever happens, I hope they figure it out soon. A dip bomb never happened here.”
“Me too.”
Cuphead gently moved her face so she can look at him and he gently leaned in and kissed her lips. He felt Ms. Chalice return the kiss and made it last for a few seconds before she pulled away.
“Want me to stay?” Cuphead asked.
“Sure,” Ms. Chalice replied. “I don’t mind.”
Cuphead smiled and brought a chair close to the bed. Ms. Chalice smiled when she saw his face close to hers. He looked so handsome.
“So, honey,” Cuphead said. “Were there any suspicions?”
“I did see a glimpse of three humans, like real humans, on the rooftops,” Ms. Chalice replied, “but I recognized those three. They’re Seraphina, Aileen, and Nisha.”
“What were they doing?”
“I don’t know, but judging by them being in their magical girl outfit, something’s happening here. Knowing her and Sophia, they come here rarely and them being here, ready for battle means something bad is happening.”
“Huh...”
“It’s been a week after the incident and seeing Natalie here. I dunno... I get the feeling that something’s gonna happen.”
“Ya think?”
“Mmhm... Thinking about it, seeing a magical girl here makes me think that it’s a sign.”
“Maybe. I dunno. We’ll see when one of the young ladies tells us.”
“Yeah.”
“Yo. You okay?”
Cuphead looked behind him and Ms. Chalice looked to see Donovan Brown, an elemental magical boy of the light and dark element, standing at the doorway.
“Donovan?” Cuphead asked.
“Hey,” the teen boy replied.
“What are you doing here?”
“Got a call from Sera and thought I could come over here and check up on you toons.”
“Oh.”
“Donovan,” Ms. Chalice spoke, “do you know why the three girls were here?”
“We magical warriors have been sent to find clues,” Donovan replied. “Some of the stronger ones suspect that Melissa Norman, that girl of the Seattle Salvation Church, and her friends and family are involved.”
“Melissa?”
“Yes. Her. And we’re here to find out if it’s true.”
“Can I help?” Cuphead asked.
“No.”
“Why not?”
“Too dangerous. Especially for you toons.”
“But—“
“Ah! No! If I said it’s dangerous, I’m serious.”
Cuphead fell silent.
Donovan then sighed.
“All I can say is be careful. We appreciate the help, but we don’t want you dying out there either. Don’t want people from ‘The Fourth Wall dimension’ or whatever thinking you’re officially dead.”
“Okay.”
Donovan smiles before he got up and walked out of the hospital room.
And as he did, he took out his phone texted to a group of friends in a server in Discord. After calling everyone, she started typing.
Donovan: Everyone... Watch out. A bomb hit ToonTown.
And he got a load of surprised replies.
Then he put her phone back into his pocket and head out of the hospital. There, he used his ring to transform back into his magical boy form and ran to find more secrets that this city now hides.
