"After the Sol Crusade and a road to recovery, the Mystic Paladin eventually sought to replace the loss of his Seraphim, thus the creation of the 9th suit began with the plan to introduce more tech thought to have been impossible before the acquisition of Mystic Technology, effectively building off of the framework of the Seraphim."

Here we have the start of the next suit, displayed here is the bodyglove and the inner tech plates. The bodyglove is used to help form a seal should the wearer find themselves in a hazardous environment and helps the user to interface with their suit(though neuro-implants can mitigate this) and the bodyglove can shrug off various attacks if durable enough.

The tech plates while durable are not true armor plating, they form the foundation for the rest of the suit as it distributes power throughout the suit from the power armors power source and allows full control of the power armor. Effectively speaking, the tech plates that Magnum is wearing can easily work as a form of personal protection all on their own as most small arms would have a hard time getting through it, however outside of their durability they offer no other form of protection.
