TRADEMARK

There is something amazing about old machines that truly inspire me. I am fascinated that modern trends often rely on the success of previous experimentations. Every day I see something reminiscent of a previous era, whether in the bodylines of a car, the color scheme of a contemporary living room, or the cut of someone’s clothing. This series is an attempt to express my admiration for the aesthetic yet functional designs of the everyday machines of previous times.
Whether it’s found in the smooth, cold touch of a Minolta Zoom8 camcorder lens barrel; the precise folding of a Kodak Junior II camera lens; or the sound of an SD-84 Panasonic phonograph skimming the surface of an LP, I can’t help but be in awe. All of the objects used as props are original - either borrowed from friends and family or purchased from Deseret Industries. Presented in a side-by-side diptych format, each pair of pictures focuses on one object; one side containing the object with a model, the other side an abstraction of the object itself, meant to expose you to my love for its simple beauty.
