The first drawing I got to complete in 2022 (plus my second release of the year after Q*Bert and the second drawing I started work on [after a Sonic and Gumball crossover I’m making based on the song ‘Me!’ by Taylor Swift featuring Brendon Urie of Panic! at the Disco], as well as my first console-based drawing after I came out as transgender last year), we’ve got Blue with a Sega Dreamcast controller playing Sonic Adventure! Why? Because last Tuesday, the fact that it is now 2022 made me realize that the earliest memories I have are now 20 years old (of course, being born earlier than that means that I did first encounter Blue’s Clues earlier than 2002, but my memories only go as far back as that particular year, so that’s what I’m rolling with; and yes, my first console was, indeed, a Dreamcast despite it being discontinued a year prior because my late uncle brought one home when he moved in with us when I was four). Man, does the passage of time feel just as fast as Sonic when one realizes stuff like that, eh? Regardless, it’s the very first 2D cartoon character I ever saw and the very first video game console I played with complete with the very first video game I ever played together at last! A winning toddlerhood combo if I ever saw one! Fun anecdotal fact from that same time period, I even remember playing Blue’s Clues VHS tapes (as well as some Sesame Street ones) while also playing Sonic Adventure. I don’t know why as they both already produce sound on their own, but I speculate that this was a prototype kind of stage in my life that happened long, LONG before I started playing music during drawing sessions like this. Full circle twenty years later, I guess.
