Description
Named after the Mapuche word “Mapu” which means “earth” and Rose, for the color of the rocks and the one who funded the expeditions which uncovered the dinosaur’s remains, This close cousin of the very similar and equally-mighty Giganotosaurus was 11-13 m long in life, rivaling the size of the biggest T.rex, and it was also strong and powerful enough to tackle the giant sauropod Argentinosaurus- especially if it hunted in packs consisting of several differently-aged members biting repeatedly at different parts of the quarry’s body- especially the weaker ones such as the flanks and areas surrounding the legs. Then the quarry will die of blood loss and the pack can share the prize equally with each other-but it may sometimes only be the biggest individuals who go first and take the lion’s share of the meal, until the younger ones get a share of their own.
I’ve also given the beast a coloration and design that should allude a bit to green iguanas, as with the other carcharodontosaurids.
