I like the concept of this one, sort of like a psychedelic inception when you think about it.

Thanks. That's why I draw them.. I find it relaxing and removes anxiety and stress. Also, staring at a large print can do the same thing

Hi Jim,
I see a city/buildings/a mansion in this picture with pathways, steps, entrances and exits. It has a middle eastern feel to it. There are palm trees. I know you have Buddhist leanings but this mandala has a very Christian feel to it for me. The centre βsunβ representing God/Jesus surrounded by the twelve apostles. There are six eyes/guardians overlooking the whole. The centre has a very stained glass churchy feel to it which radiates out to the more middle eastern theme flowing in waves at the outer edge.
Thereβs lots of repetition of the number twelve. Continual energy and growth β symbolized by the whorls.
There is a suggestion of day and night (light and dark) in the picture in the way colour is used and with the representation of 24 = 24 hours. Day that carries into night and night carried into day. There is stability, a calm liveliness and holiness in this work. An ornate intricacy to the city. For me itβs the city of God. There are sharp thorns (?) (fourty-eight 48, 4 + 8 = 12) at the boundary which protect entrance to the city β there are more thorns but I havenβt counted them all! I also see pearls of wisdom. The evenness throughout suggests justice, balance and peace. Great work Jim :0)

Hi. Well, what can I say. I think your interpretation of my work is beautiful. The effort you have put into the describing of what you see is wonderful. Thank you for taking the time and for writing such an interesting analysis. Bravo!

JLB007 In reply to Mandala-Jim [2013-09-13 09:01:06 +0000 UTC]
Thanks Jim! I've another interpretation for you on one of the mandala's that I've called The Mission - I've named it after the film that stars Robert De Niro and Jeremy Irons. Have you seen this film? I'll post the interpretation when I get the time. But for now, I'm having inspiration whilst reading June-Elleni Laine's book on mandala's. For instance, have you tried drawing easily identifiable images - a car, feet, doors, mirrors, etc and putting them into a mandala based on your inspiration in relation to them? And what about a moving mandala? Have you attempted that yet? It could be a moving mandala that features the seasons, or some other theme. I like both of these ideas. What do you think? Has anyone done it already? All best BFN

I really look forward to your interpretation. You can write it as a critique if you like. As for including identifiable objects, I let the pen draw..and I just follow.Β There is now pre planning in my work. Except the colouring. Everything I draw comes from the unconscious. But, I like your ideas.. Perhaps sometime in the near future I will give them a try. Thanks so much for your feedback.. makes me want to keep going
