Description
Some have been complaining about me never leaving the Rhino fractal, I have done so occasionally but have not found anything as interesting and varied, yet... but this weekend I focused on trying out new formula hybrids, and this one is an unrestrained crazy mix of bulbs and boxesA detail of the "Thistel fractal" I found yesterday...
BEWARE bib!
Did a new different (better if you ask me

Are the Rhno fractal or Thistel fractal actual parameters free for use somewhere? I never seem to find anything like them in my parameter files - in fact with version 1.67 I don't even seem to have any par files?
I like this one. As I scrolled down the word "Majestic" came to mind!

Thank you Anna, The "Rhino" and "Thistel" are just my own name for formula mixes I have combined myself, I usually do not use ready made parameterfiles.
Strange you didn't get par files with that version, try download the latest? 1.68, they should be in a folder in the application folder.
My suggestion are that you try to do your own "mixes" though... More fun!

I do agree about doing own mixes; Hal Tenny provided some par files and I did copy them and have a play, but then I saw loads of others being coughed up out of the same par files and decided not to follow the sheep!
I must look out the new version

I know, you get bored of these pretty quick... flooding DA
But it can be a good way to learn, just checking how the parameters are set, I did a variation of Theli-at:s beautiful Kleinian drops (which is a tweek of a formula mix by Lenord I think...): [link]
I wish you good luck Anna!!!

Do you work intuitively (visually), or do you work by fixing the numerical values?
I liked that one and forgot to fave it when I saw it. Fixed now

I use the 3D-navigator to walk around and zoom in, then I usually make a big render of an area that looks interesting, to see if there seem to be something really interesting to zoom into, then back to the 3D navigator, walk around and zoom in.
Thank you for the fav Anna

Ahh! I was never able to understand the 3D navigator! I'm SO impatient, but that's partly because I have so little time to actually play with new programs - or play with anything at all come to that!

But you should try the 3D navigator, it is pretty nice when you get the hang of it!

You're quite right. I need to spend time. The problem I did find was that when I found what I wanted and reverted to the normal screen hoping to do a render of it, the whole thing changed and I never saw what I had "reached" again. I obviously did something wrong, but it was too frustrating to try again

OK, you have to click the "Send to main view" button in the 3D navigator and see that the render message appears in the main window, then you press render.

This is a very rich, organic fractal; lots of prickly, sticker-y things that remind me or those pest-y summer weeds that get stuck in you socks. The color fade from warm to cool is poetic.

OK, on this one I have
Smooth normals: 0
DE stop: 0.5
VaryDE: CHECKED
Raystep multipier: 0.05 (slow render)
Stepcount: 7
Normals on DE: UNCHECKED
First step random CHECKED
R bailout 1024
MAx iterations: 60
But as I sad, this setting works on this hybrid, you have to try different settings.

MANDELWERK In reply to 3x3 [2011-01-24 15:01:20 +0000 UTC]
I can put it up here, but those settings depend pretty much on which fractal you render, it is a trial/error work many times.
But if you want it for this I will provide!

awesome...what rendersettings did you use here to get such a smooth result?

Thank you 3x3!
I can check what settings I had, do not have it here... you mean De-stop/smooth normals/iterations etc.?
