Just as a question, have you ever thought of adding a "reflective" quality to portions of the results, to make them "shiny" ?
after all, it would likely get interesting to see distorted reflections of a distortion

I have used reflections in many of my works, not suitable for all fractals though, because the surface is fractal and not smooth...
