Description I just found out that my Fractal Wasp Troll image was one of the 25 selected for Benoit Mandelbrot Fractal Art Exhibition 2011. www.fractalartcontests.com/201…

He also won fractalforums.com:s annual fractal art contest 2011 for me: www.fractalforums.com/fractalf…

Almost scared myself when he popped out from the DOF in Photoshop... Do not dare to zoom any closer...

As I said before, this is a unrestrained crazy mix of bulbs and boxes but I guess this chaos is needed to create these kind of "real world" organic creatures.

FULL VIEW PLEASE!

Mandelbulb 3D, DOF effects done in Photoshop

3D printed version available in my shop at Shapeways: www.shapeways.com/shops/mandel…

Do not miss 'Pupal Metamorphosis of Queen Cleopatra' - Found in the same fractal:

Looks like someone used BeezleBub.

Looks great.

Thank you!!

Actually I should have said Beezlebulb not Beezlebub.
It was a reference for the devil in the details but the joke did not work.
My apologies if it was offensive.

This is a very intricate picture.
Looked through your gallery and some of your work reminds me of the Decalomania(sp?) type stuff done by Max Ernst.
What software do you use to make this stuff?

There was a landscape picture but I forgot the name.

What software do you use for this?
Can it be used to make 3d models?

MANDELWERK In reply to sevenofeleven [2011-01-29 16:01:24 +0000 UTC]

Ah, forgot to tell you that!
Mandelbulb 3D, free software, links in my journal.
No 3D models yet, but I have asked Jesse, who makes the software to make it possible and I know he is working on it.

No offense Aaron, I was just wondering, now I get it!

I was also thinking about Ernst when I saw the final result of this, do not remember what the painting I was thinking about is called though... I will see if I can remember...

This one is fantastic. The colors immediately remind me of prehistoric earth. Like being in the shadow of a volcano at dusk.

That is absolutely the coolest fractal I've seen to date. Looks downright vicious! Awesome choice of colors, too, gives the whole scene a strong sense of environment.

A concentrated bundle of pure vituperation

MANDELWERK In reply to IDeviant [2011-01-28 14:13:27 +0000 UTC]

Thank you for that sofflocks-word Ian!
1. The act or an instance of vituperating; abusive censure.
2. Sustained, harshly abusive language; invective

Thats good isn't it?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

IDeviant In reply to MANDELWERK [2011-01-28 15:18:24 +0000 UTC]

Definitely! One normally associates 'anger' with wasps, but I wanted something a little more colourful and off-the-wall, so I imagined the creature spitting venomous invective in its high, buzzing, insectoid tone

I am glad you remember me all the way back to the hadron collider, wich is also a unique place, might return there some day... have learned some new rendering tricks since then
