Description A young 'man-cub' is orphaned in the jungles of Bukuvu by the leopardess Sabor at the orders of Shere Khan, Great Khan of the Tiger Khanate. The boy is taken in by Kala, the matriarch of the Mangani gorilla troop whose mate Kerchak has united their kin in a war against the Tigers over the killing of their infant son, and receives the name 'Tarzan' from her. Simba, a lion prince from the Pride Lands goes into exile following his father's death and eventually finds himself in the jungle, where he meets Tarzan and the two of them form a powerful bond, accompanying each other through adventures and reverie. Together, with the help of their friends in the jungle, the two will become strong and wise so that one day they can defeat Shere Khan.

1. The Jungle Book Shonen Mowgli - Tarzan in this fic is pretty much merger of Disney's character and this anime's Mowgli, with much of the story being focused on his growth from man-cub to a grown man as he learns about the Law of the Jungle and the Great Circle of Life. Like Mowgli, he is never without his trusty fang (a wooden spear), which Baloo fashioned for him from a treebranch.

2. Simba the King Lion - You may consider this fic it's Spiritual Successor: we have Simba being raised in a jungle alongside his surrogate brother from a different species (who also happens to be an orphan), they are taught by the likes of Bagheera and Baloo, and the two of them are destined to one day fight Shere Khan and his army... also, I assure the next Arc is gonna be something cu-ray-ze.

3. The Lion Guard - Most of the inspiration for my worldbuilding came from this show's take on the Pride Lands. While writing, I try to portray the Bukuvu Jungle as close as an ecosystem can get to resembling an actual state (albeit a decentralized, tribalistic one) with its own laws while still more or less being the ecosystem it's based on. You know, the type of place you expect to find in the TLG Universe.

4. Tarzan Printed Media - I like to do lots of research for my work. As Tarzan is one of my co-stars, I checked a lot of his comics (along with some of his book) and found a good number of bits and pieces I wanted to include in my fic (especially things from his jungle life).

5. Kings and Khans and A Thing of Vikings - Two of the reasons why I love Fanfiction. My story was directly based on the former (the characters from Tarzan and The Jungle Book live in the same jungle, Shere Khan is a ruthless conqueror at war with most of the animals there, Sabor is his subordinate, etc). ATOV, meanwhile, has some of the best worldbuilding I have ever seen, has an absurdly daring concept (HTTYD meets Alternate History), and is incredibly well-constructed. I can only dream that my work will one day measure up to the Author.

6. YouTube History Documentaries and Sci-Fi/Fantsay Lore Videos - They say you should write what you know: I love historical battles and jungles, so I wrote a story about the lives of two surrogate brothers growing up trying to find their place in a war-torn jungle. Those documentaries also help a lot whenever I have to write about full-blown military engagements. As for the latter, much of my research came from rewatching videos about the lore of Fantasy and Sci-Fi worlds, even more so after I decided to bring more movies into the mix as the fanfic went on... I labeled my fic as Heroic Fantasy for a reason.

7. Shonen Manga/Anime - Surprised? Yeah, I didn't think so. Not when the entire narrative is built around Story Arcs that pile up on top of each other and I had the two protagonists undergo a training regimen with the specific goal of getting stronger by learning the animal world's equivalent of Martial Arts (thank you, Tier-Zoo). It was through anime that I was properly introduced to serialized storytelling and it was by reading Naruto Fanfiction that I would finally cement my love for FanWorks, paving the way for the artist I am today.
