In this story Ruby arrived a few seconds earlier, surprising Cinder and causing her to release the arrow at a quarter pull. So while Pyrrha still got impaled, it didn't go all the way through, and since Cinder was busy fighting Ruby she never incinerated Pyrrha.

Lia modeled her aesthetic after Yang, since Yang was the one who trained her to be a Huntress and to control her semblance. her neck scarf is actually Yang's from her Volume 1-3 outfit.

The writing in general has been pretty mediocre the last couple of seasons.
I don't like how they have been squandering potential for emotional moments, nor how some characters have become empty husks of themselves, only there to spout one-liners.
(SPOILERS AHEAD): But I liked seeing Winter and Ironwood in episode 2.

It's risky, but as long as they can keep a hopeful approach to the "news" about Salem, it shouldn't cause mass panic.
