Description Hundreds of years after the Aclipse that laid the world bare, the peoples of the Americas have rebuilt something resembling civilization once more.

The chief power on the continent, wielding disproportionate power relative to its size and population, is Deytrot, a democratic federation of hundreds of different tribes built around the common principles of the rule of law, democracy, civil liberties, and justice. Their unique system, a combination of proportional representation and devolution, works despite its flaws thanks in large part to its brilliant leadership, helped by intellectuals migrating from Havaadyad. Though there have been cries for expansion into the Meedwost by nationalists in recent years, the government is steadfastly opposed, citing its desire to improve the infrastructure and technology of its existing lands before desiring to incorporate new ones.

Rivaling it both ideologically and politically is Caynda, a reactionary, militaristic slaver society forged by conquest and blood. Much of the past few hundred years of the continent have been dominated by a series of wars and stalemates between the two of them, though neither have appreciably changed their borders with one another in over a century. It is the only nation in the world to heavily fortify, clearly define, and closely guard all of its borders.

As their name implies, The 78 Kingdoms of Nordland are a group of (very) loosely united monarchies somewhat resembling the old world Holy Roman Empire. Their "union" is more analogous to a free trade area and mutual defense agreement, and they've remained in the peripheral of the continent's vision for most of the last few centuries. Development levels and technological advancement vary depending on location, with the southern kingdoms more similar to Deytrot and Haavadyad, and the northern kingdoms more primitive and isolated.

The Yewp Peoples are not united by a common government, but are typically grouped together due to their common culture and language. They remain an isolated hunter-gatherer society, though in recent years trade with Deytrot and the 78 Kingdoms is beginning to change that. Their language is well-known for being extremely difficult to master, with the emphasis on vowels being particularly difficult for Deytrotans to understand and speak.

Leading the world technologically and culturally is Havaadyad, an aristocratic, highly educated society built around knowledge preserved from the old world. Centering around the capital of Havaad-Emitee, what they lack in raw materials they more than make up for in technological and cultural value. Because of their close relationship with Deytrot, they have come into conflict frequently with Caynda, and as such have set up a buffer zone of various tribes to separate the two nations.

North of the heavily booby-trapped border of Havaadyad lies the territory of The Wild Ones. Little is known of them, but rumors say they practice cannibalism and worship fish. In any case, they kill any outsiders attempting to enter their land, so the world is content to let the mystery of their existence remain unsolved.

In the south end of the world lies the vast, desolate land known as the Meedwost. Home to isolated tribes and city-states connecting only to the rest of the world by occasional trading caravans, this is the "frontier" of the civilized world, where it is easy to get lost and even easier to be forgotten.

Travel to lands beyond these is difficult, as Nyuklar's Revenge pollutes the Atlantic Ocean and Mississippi and Ohio Rivers. No one quite knows what lies south of the Meedwost, and nobody particularly wants to find out.
