Description The Crusader states were Roman Catholic polities created by the Crusaders as a result of the Crusades and of the armed pilgrimage towards the holy land. However these Crusader states different to our reality they were much more sucesseful, capturing Egypt, most of the Levant and even Mosul for a brief time period, after the 4th crusade and the capture of Constantinople and most of Greece created a solid line of support between the Crusader states and Western Europe that would help them keep their grip in the region. The Mongol conquests in the middle east were very much a mixed bag for the Crusader states, with states such as Anatolia and Assyria falling to them while for the Latin Empire and Jerusalem it eliminated threats from the Muslim world with the sack of Baghdad and the containment of attacks from the Emirate of Damascus, an emirate that for centuries tried to expel the crusaders from the region, being unable to break their defenses and the crusaders being unable to break theirs.
