Description
Based on a challenge I posted to another site a while back; the premise is that the Key that became Dawn is actually the essence of the Key to Time, which was the focus of a storyline in the Fourth Doctor's era.
Long story short, the Doctor was assigned by the White Guardian, the personification of Order in the universe, to find the six segments of the Key to Time to help him restore balance, each segment in some kind of disguise in various locations in time and space (to get an idea of the scale of their power, one segment was actually disguised as a PLANET).
Once the Key had been assembled, the Doctor briefly froze Time throughout the universe and then ordered the six segments to disperse. Later on, an audio trilogy saw the Fifth Doctor forced to find the Key again when it was revealed that his actions had destabilised the bond between the segments (at one point he had to use five segments and a substitute sixth), with the result that the segments were decaying and damaging reality.
That confrontation ended with the Doctor destroying the Key in the Chaos Pool where it had been forged, but the premise of this challenge is that the energy within the segments was eventually 'reforged' in Dawn, just as the sixth segment in the Doctor's previous searches for the Key had been disguised as a living person.
