In 1987,Fabricaciones Militares was requested to build a deadly self propelled artillery and a replacement for the VCA Palmaria,although this one wasn't very old,so the new TAP 4 Project started taking ideas.
In 1988 the first prototypes of the new "Aguará Guazú" VBAPA(Vehiculo Blindado de Artilleria Pesada Argentina) was taken into testing,final conclussions said that the tank was able to reach 59.3 KM/H,it could carry 20 160mm shells from the new "Tatú Carreta" 160mm Cannon and could reach 605km max distance.
Finally in 1989,the TAP 4 VBAPA "Aguará Guazú" entered in service for the Grand Army of Argentina with 1,000 units being built,the tank was also desgined for vehicle recover,so there is also a tow add-on for the engineer battalions,some units also like to use the Aguará Guazú del Infierno" Modification,which had an external fuel tank,a cannon output and a ripper,this was Soldier's favourite since it could "put fear" in the enemy.
The "Aguará Guazú" is by the moment the best artillery self propelled cannon that the GAA has,currently most of them are going under a renovation.
