blobfish aren't monsters. in the wild they look like any other fish and pose zero threat to us. their grotesque appearance is only the result of extreme tissue damage done to them by humans who are fishing them out of their natural, deep sea habitats. their bodies literally melt. i can't imagine that process being anything but extremely painful.
humans are the real monsters. humans are truly ugly in nature.

These guys live deep under water and they need the pressure to take their fish form
When it is taken out of the water because there is no pressure they melt into a blobby fish
So that is the reason why they look so weird
