Description

These are characters that I hate, but are from films that I like.

NOTE: Potential spoilers for their respective films. You have been warned

1. Dolores Umbridge (Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix)

No surprise that this b*tch would be at the top of this meme.

She’s racist, a control freak, and practically abuses the students at Hogwarts. Hell, she’s even a b*tch to the other teachers, especially McGonagall.

I don’t think I need to say any more about this character. It’s no mystery to why she’s so unlikable… -_-

2. Cal Hockley (Titanic)

Titanic is one of the best movies I’ve seen, and one of the only love stories I’ll ever like.

Cal is certainly unlikable. While he started to look jealous of Rose’s relationship with Jack, he later shows that he’s also an asshole. Hell, he even slapped Rose and yelled at her to scare her in a couple scenes, which shows that he would’ve been an abusive husband if she did end up marrying him.

Thank god Rose didn’t end up with him.

3. Mr. and Mrs. Everglot (Corpse Bride)

Okay, I had to make sure that I don’t include just villains on this meme. And yes, I hate the main antagonist in this film, but to change things up, I decided to have these two douchebag parents on this meme.

Yeah, a couple that clearly hates each other, but if they agree on one thing, it’s to treat their daughter like she’s a piece of property, and marry her off to whoever promises them money.  I already hate neglectful parents, but these guys are just one of the worst fictional parents I’ve ever seen.

4. Mertle Edmonds (Lilo and Stitch)

Oh look. Another non-villain character, and one who’s a bully instead.

Yeah. Lilo and Stitch is one of my favorite Disney films. A great one indeed. And boy, this character deserves to be hated. She’s always bullying Lilo for being different and getting the other girls in their hula class to be mean to Lilo to.

I get it that she’s meant to be hated, but seriously? Why can’t she face comeuppance?

5. Carter J. Burke (Aliens)

The second Alien movie is my favorite in the series, and I only liked the first two films.

Honestly, I was already getting bad vibes from him as Ripley was getting pulled back into the mess with the Xenomorphs. Then Burke shows how he hadn’t come on the mission understanding how dangerous it was going to be. He just saw it as a get rich quick scheme by bringing back a specimen for the military department to study. And he was going to go as far as attempting to infect Ripley and Newt with facehuggers.

Thank goodness he died a little bit later. Because in accordance to horror situation vengeance rules, he was going to face bad karma, and thank goodness he died. Honestly, if he was spared, he was just going to kill everyone in hyper sleep so no one would believe him that the Xenomorphs are dangerous.

6. Chick Hicks (Cars)

I’m someone who actually likes the Cars films, even if the first two got mixed reviews as compared to the third one.

And man, I didn’t like Chick in the first movie. He was pretty much a douche of a rival, and it really pissed me off with the final race as he pushed the King out of the way and didn’t show any regret that he technically injured him badly.

Yeah, I do not like this guy.

7. Mary Lou Barebone (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them)

I remember when I first watched this movie. I really loved it, but when I saw Mary Lou come on, I was getting some bad vibes. I could see her being like the Dolores Umbridge of the movie.

And sure enough, it’s revealed that she is. She abuses and beats all the kids that she’s keeping in her shelter, and she seems to hurt Credence the most. Honestly, she was just as bad as Umbridge, because those children she was beating were orphans, and she certainly was painting a bad image of their situation to the people of New York to the point where people didn’t see just how much pain she was putting the children in.

8. Lotso (Toy Story 3)

I know that Lotso was possibly painted off to be a sympathetic or tragic villain, regarding his backstory. And maybe I would’ve been neutral with him, if the scene where he abandoned the toys in the furnace hadn’t taken place.

They saved him from getting ripped to shreds, and instead of learning his lesson, he left them to die because he was that rigid with how he thought about what it meant to be a toy.

Yeah, a character who is that one tracked minded and doesn’t go through even slight development when they’re treated with a kind action like being saved, they won’t earn my respect. And that kind of character is Lotso.

9. Henry Bowers (It 2017)

Now, before I list why I hate Henry, I understand why he was the way he was. His father was abusive, so he took out how he felt by bullying the Losers Club. Also, props to the actor who played him in the 2017 adaption. Playing a character going insane, and someone who’s a kid or a teenager, it takes work.

Now, onto why I hate Henry: he’s toxic. His friends understood his situation with his dad, but they could see when he would take it too far on bullying the Losers Club. I’ve seen them show expressions of hesitation when Henry wanted to carve his name on Ben’s stomach with a knife. And yet, even if they see that what he’s doing is dangerous and wrong, they still go with it.

Toxic characters like that, I can’t find myself sympathizing with.

10. Gaston (Beauty and the Beast)

Beauty and the Beast is one of my favorite Disney films. But even back then, when I was a child and I first got into the film, Gaston was always a character I could never like.

As a child, I did just view him as the creepy evil guy who wants to force the princess to marry him. As an adult, I could see him being obsessive and clingy to Belle, and he only wanted her because she’s beautiful. Only wanted her to be a trophy wife. Seeing the movie again as an adult, and understanding better character development, I developed more reasons to hate Gaston.

11. Elena (Coco)

Coco was a great Pixar film. One of my favorites actually. Pixar put a lot of effort into this movie, and it was one of the most emotional, but one of the best ones they’ve made.

But one character I don’t like from the film (besides Ernesto, but since he’s a villain and I’m trying to use other non-villain characters, he’s not on here) was Elena, Miguel’s grandmother. She was so rigid with the music ban rule in the family, she honestly took hurtful actions to try to force Miguel to not pursue his passion for music. She smashed his guitar to bits and expected him to be fine with it, and she smashed it right in front of him.

Sure, she did change her attitude by the film’s ending, but I honestly didn’t like how it took that long for her to finally stop being so rigid with the rule.

12. Cho Chang (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix)

The Harry Potter movies are one of my favorite series. I’m a huge fan of Harry Potter and I freaking love the books and the movies.

I never did like Cho though. Honestly, she’s bland and isn’t a likable character in my book. She was only around to serve as Harry’s first love interest, and even when she does become his girlfriend for a short amount of time, she still won’t move on from losing Cedric. She knows that he’s dead and not coming back, but won’t move on, which is unhealthy. After she and Harry break up, she doesn’t show up anymore, nor did she go through any development.

Really bland, short lived role in the series. Not an interesting character in my book.

13. Chi-Fu (Mulan)

Another one of my favorite Disney princess films. But this guy, yeah, I didn’t like him. Even as a kid, I didn’t mind the film’s villain. Because this guy became the one character I hated in the film.

He was always insulting Mulan, and didn’t even thank her for what she did to help the group fight the Huns. And why did he keep on insulting her? Because she’s a woman. He’s sexist and that’s why he insulted Mulan constantly.

Yeah. I don’t like this guy…

14. Hans (Frozen)

As overrated as Frozen can be, I still liked the film and enjoyed it.

But honestly, Hans isn’t the best plot twist villain out there. I’ve seen better plot twist villains, and his motives are ones that I cannot sympathize with. He only wanted to marry Anna to have a throne to rule, and he was trying way too hard to get the citizens of Arendelle to like him in their dire situation.

So while it did surprise me a tiny bit that he was a bad guy, I’ve seen better plot twist villains, and I couldn’t sympathize with Hans because of his motives XP

15. The Storm King (My Little Pony: The Movie)

Okay, now My Little Pony: The Movie, it’s a film I’m more neutral on. It’s here at the bottom of the list because I did think it was good and I did enjoy it, but I did think it could have used a little bit of room for improvement.

And one of those rooms of improvement was the Storm King. A villain that I’m more neutral on (again, why this is here at the bottom of the list).

Honestly, I think the Storm King could’ve been a more better villain. His motives were kinda bland, and we don’t see him on screen long enough. We get that he’s childish, but other than that, there’s no other aspects to his character. Maybe he would’ve been better if we saw him more on screen.

Not the best villain, but also not the most poorly written.
