Okay, just for the record right now, the comic is pretty feelsy and good.
But...uh...wasn't Grunkle Stan the reason the pig was abducted in the first place?

I wouldn't say it was his fault, how should he have known? Just try putting a pig in your yard: It will not get abducted by a pterodactyl, I assure you.

The fact that it was a pterodactyl isn't directly related to it, it's more a minor detail.

The fact the "something" turned out to be a flying dinosaur is itself a big detail, but it could have been anything else and the effect would have for the most part effectively been the same.

Until now I wasn't that serious, but consider this: The mistake Stan made was pretty minor, yes, Mabel said to not put Waddles outside, but from a reasonable point of view her fear was a little excessive, there is a certain risk involved in letting a pig tied up and alone outside, but what kind of predators could seriously be expected? So all Stan did, was being a little mindless and miscalculating the risk of his actions. What he actually did to redeem himself was so muchΒ on the epic side that his 'fault' shouldn't really count. It's as if you forgot to lock up the bike your friend loaned you and thus it was stolen and your reacton to that honest mistake would be to follow the thieves through the whole town and in the process roughing up the whole criminal scene of your town. That's what Stan did.

I would like to clarify that I didn't think Stan didn't redeem his actions. Β It was just something a little silly I thought of.
That being said, it's true that Mabel was being (justifiably) paranoid about it. Β Keeping this in mind, Stan probably knows exactly what is out there since he probably studied the first journal extensively, and thus probably should have known better than to leave it out there in the first place (unless the first journal doesn't have any dangerous creatures in it for some reason).
Though with that being said, a dinosaur was probably not one of the things listed.

Other than the fact that Ford would never have gone to another dimension in the first place, but then again he got to miss the 90's version of DD&MoreD. So Grunkle Stan is amazing. Mabel is so good at cheering people up. Making them realize how amazing they already are.
