What did Rick see, though? I bet it's sadder.

A world where his family respects him, where he isn't spending every moment in pain, and he can enjoy exploring the cosmos without the deep emotional scarring he has. Maybe Jerry isn't even there.

What student debt!? If Ford really was such a successful scientist he could've paid his debts with a snap, even for a ritzy college like West Tech. Hell, for a perpetual motion machine!? He should've been getting scholarships left and right! And if Stanley had invested all his money into Ford's successful company he should be swimming in cash! Not attending a nobel prize ceremony in a patched up suit!Β Something's wrong with that parallel dimension.
I appreciate the Rick and Morty crossovers though. Wonder what Rick was watching.

Uh... yeah... no. Ford didn't do anything wrong. I'm sure if Stan had apologized for what he did Ford would've forgiven him, but Stan never did and that was because he wasn't sorry that it happened. Dimension 45 Stan may have gave Ford nothing but support, but dimension 46 Stan was against his brother leaving him from the start. Even when he rescued Ford, he was being selfish. Ford thinks about everyone, including Stan, Stan is just afraid to be without his brother and endangers everyone and everything to make sure that doesn't happen. When you're so afraid of being alone that you sabotage other's happiness and safety, you're being selfish.

You have an extremely good point, but ere is also the small fact that it's family. Yes, Stan DID do a terribly SELFISH thing by opening the portal and not heeding his brother's warnings. But everything he's ever done has been for his family, everything. So, he actually would do something like this for his brother. This is completely plausible (besides the obvious fact that Ford could have just not had any student loans) in the sense that Stan would work hard and give everything to his twin.Β

Everything Stan has ever done has been for himself. He saved his brother because he missed him. If he wanted to do something for his brother, he would've respected his wishes, left with the book and never turned on the machine despite his own loneliness. Doing what you think is a favor to someone because you yourself miss them is a selfish act, especially when they specifically don't want you to do it. I'm not saying Stan doesn't care about his brother, I'm saying Ford should not feel guilty because when the time came to it, twice, Stan chose to do things his way instead of doing what was best for everyone and, most importantly, never apologized for his actions because he honestly didn't feel guilty about them.

I suppose that's true. However, Ford is also selfish. So, he should feel a little bit guilty, just not a lot. In my opinion, the way I view it, both of them made choices that weren't the best which enabled them to end up in the situation they're in now. They should both just admit what they did back then wasn't smart or fair, apologize, and move on. Frankly, I'm concerned about what's going to happen soon if they're both living in the same household. Also, Ford is making Stan move out soon (since the summer is almost over now), and we all know Stan has no one who will take him in and let him stay there. Unless Ford and Stan can make up, all the family bonds' are going to be broken too, and it will be both of their faults. Especially now that Dipper has to keep a secret from Mabel. It's still up for debate on if there are any trust issues with Dipper and Mabel currently (even though Dipper doesn't show the feeling of being betrayed, he hides his feelings well sometimes). Still, this whole family is just screwed up.

I don't see it that way. Ford made a decision that was not only beneficial to his future, but to his entire family's. Ford's future plans did not involve hurting Stan, they just involved leaving him out for a little while. He even said that treasure hunting with his brother was his backup plan which showed that college in itself didn't mean that much to him, just this once in a lifetime opportunity that very few had. Stan literally hurt Ford in the process of getting what he wanted and instead of saying "I'm sorry, it was an accident. You know I didn't mean it" he said "Atleast I'm getting what I want" because even though it was an accident, he was happy it happened. That was when Ford stopped thinking about Stan and only cared about his own future, which wasn't selfish it was just letting go of someone who betrayed him.
When Ford asked Stan to sail far away and hide the book, he wasn't being selfish either. He knew that evil was coming and the best way to stop it was for him to stay and for Stan to go. That's why he got so frustrated at Stan. He asked Stan to do something because, even after what Stan had done to him, there was no one Ford trusted more than his brother, yet Stan was still stuck on personal matters because he wanted to spend time with Ford. Instead of taking the book and helping out all of mankind, Stan instantly tried to burn the book out of spite, the result of which is what sent Ford to hurdling to the other dimension in the first place.
Stan did indeed stand up for Ford multiple times, but only when he had nothing to lose. When the time came for him to let go of his wants, he showed his true colors and never apologized for it. Ford thought about what was best for everyone. He shouldn't regret anything and has nothing to apologize for. Even now, he's only taking back what's rightfully his which Stan did indeed steal from him.

Haha, talking to you has been fun, I am glad I could hold a conversation with someone over this show. Sadly, the kids at my school do not like cartoon shows. Even though his show is incredibly amazing and has a very good plot.Β
