My personal theory is that neither Stan died. I think the car wreck was a cover up orchestrated by Stanford after Stanely disappeared into the portal 30 years ago. After all, how would Stanford be able to explain why his brother had suddenly vanished. He had to keep the portal a secret from the outside. So he faked his brother's death. Remember it never said which Stan Pines. Again. This is just my theory.
