I'm a huge fan of the trope of huge size differences in ships, so I wanted to contribute to that. Obviously, the size difference is because sheep are smaller than ponies, and Clydesdales are bigger than ponies.

They both work on a farm; Thunder plows fields and does a lot of heavy lifting, and Whisper assists by sowing the plowed fields and helping Thunder however possible. Thunder's cutie mark, however, means that he knows when a storm is coming, Pegasi-planned or not. Whisper gave themselves their own cutie mark--a heart in a cloud--as a visual representation of how much they love Thunder.

Thunder likes when it rains because it means he and Whisper can take shelter together. Thunder is stoic, but he (probably) loves Whisper more than Whisper loves him (which is already a lot!)
