Prismacolor & Watercolor,14”x17”Drew this right on the paper , no plan or sketch or anything first and got lucky. Whew. I wanted her to be a more realistic idea of a female warrior , not the usual sexual fantasy kind. Thing is , I still find her kinda sexy...

She is what I would call hard sexxy. Kinda like Ellen Barkin. Just agressively sexy. Great job.

Ofcourse she is sexy. Not much is sexier than a woman who looks liek she can , in some way or the other, tear apart a few people on the battle field.
Congrats on doing this without sketching it out and on doing a more or less acurate portrayal of a what a warrior woman should look like.

I read once how the old Mediterranean Amazons did that. Seems extreme to me. There are plenty of female archers in our own time , who don't seem to feel the need to do any lopping. If that's even a true report. Didn't the Greeks also write that Hercules defeated the Amazons? That's obviously a load of bull , so why not make up other stories of how they had to mutilate themselves in order to fight at all?
My own belief is that it was probably more common for women to fight in the distant past than in more modern times , given the lower and more isolated population levels in more ancient days. For some reason I'm really fascinated by this idea...

You should've shown her other side, with her boob hacked off... heh.
Oh, but if she's not an archer, she might have forgone that gruesome surgery.

Thanks for commenting! Like I said , I got lucky. My habit's usually to plan pretty completely , but I wanted to do a quicker piece that time.

On the first try and withouth a starting sketch ... you are very talented! I have to work out all of the form first, do quick sketches of what else might be in the picture, and then hope I don't screw up. I know Joe Kubert often talks about "not being afraid to make mistakes." I'm not worried about making mistakes ... I'm worried about screwing up a good start!
Seen a lot of your work and read your journal entry a while back when you spoke about being published. Best of luck to you and keep up the good work. You are an inspiration to those of us who are just wannabes. Like me.
